3-MistakesKillCount
Mistakes
Season 3

Everybody makes mistakes...
~ Nobody's perfect, although they came darn close this year. Other than the whopping 4 in the last episode alone it was a solid season in the technical department. Here are the small errors that I found along the way. By the way, I haven't nit-picked over the 'real-time' format, there are some glaring errors in that that I chose to overlook because of the novelty of it. ~
~ Instant Images: Jack and Chase scan their fingerprints at the beginning of the first episode. The images of them that come up on the screen are the two agents in the clothes that they are wearing 'today'. If they have been visiting Ramon Salazar for months now those pictures would have been taken long ago. [3.01: 1:00pm - 2:00pm]
~ Geography: The first shot after we return to Mexico after Jack is taken in by the Salazar's, the first Salazar shot of the episode in Mexico the caption for the place that we are at reads "Las Nieves, New Mexico." Unfortunately, it has been said repeatedly that the Salazar's reside in Las Nieves, Northern Mexico. [3.08: 8:00pm - 9:00pm]
~ Dubbing: This was only obvious because of the sensitive nature of the scene but it was there nonetheless. When Jack was speaking with Claudia in the living room/kitchen of the Salazar's place, as the camera pans behind there has been overdubbing from what Kiefer Sutherland originally said or a second take. The texture of his voice when the camera is behind him is much different then when we are looking at him head on. From behind we can't see his lips moving to see what he really said. [3.09: 9:00pm - 10:00pm]
~ Cell Phones: This one's a bit tricky but give it a try. When Gael is at CTU with Tony, Michelle and the others his cell phone rings and it's Hector Salazar calling. Pause when the camera hits the phone and you should be able to see the display on the phone reading RINGER OFF (funny that it rings, though) and also the date and time that the scene was filmed: 7:39P Oct 30 2003. [3.10: 10:00pm - 11:00pm]
~ Guns: When Jack and Chase are bringing Nina back to L.A. Tony orders the plane back to Mexico to comply with Nina's demands. Jack goes in the cockpit and pulls his gun on the pilot. After Jack gets his way he turns around and stuffs the gun away and tells the pilot that he can file a report with his commanding officer. When Jack comes back out into the part of the plane where Chase and Nina are, he is again putting his gun away. [3.13: 1:00am - 2:00am]
~Taller: When Jack comes back to CTU and hugs Kim as Nina is led away from the front angle facing Jack most of Kim's face is directly into Jack's shoulder. Then, on the back side of Jack and the front of Kim she is shown over his shoulder. It appears that she gained a couple of inches without moving. [3.14: 2:00am - 3:00am]
~ Malibu: When the match the ID on the car that Arthur Rabins has stolen Michelle tells Hammond that it is a 'light blue Malibu'. Then, when Jack asks them as CTU for the information Chloe tells him that Rabins is driving a 'light green Malibu'. In reality the car looks almost brown to me but call me crazy. [3.24: 12:00pm - 1:00pm]
~ Age: When Jack comes around the corner at the 'Middle School' and points his gun at a class of kids, those are the youngest middle school kids ever. Around here middle school is either grades 8-10 or grades 6-8. Grade 6's are 11 and I don't think those kids were 11. They looked closer to 7 or 8 to me. [3.24: 12:00pm - 1:00pm]
~ Floors: Jack and Chase split up to search the school for Rabins. Jack radios Chase when he leaves what appears to be a staff room and tells Chase that the second floor is clear. Take a look at the furniture and the fridge. Then Chase gets into the fight with Rabins, Jack finds him and gets the virus. As he's running down the hall he says he needs medical to the third floor science lab. Jack runs down the hall back into the same staff room and puts the virus in the fridge. He went from the 3rd floor science lab to the 2nd floor staff room without going
down any stairs. [3.24: 12:00pm - 1:00pm]

~ Hand Play 2: Jack waits at the hospital for Kim. Before we see her Jack stands with his hand under his nose. When the camera backs out we see Jack standing looking down with his hand on the back or side of his neck. Then, when we pan back to close his hand is back where it was originally (See the fade in/out to the left). [3.24: 12:00pm - 1:00pm]
From the fans:
~ Tough As Nails: When Jack is in his office trying to not take the drugs he has long fingernails on his right hand, a guitar player manicure (which makes sense since that's one of his hobbies - guitar playing, not manicuring, that is). In the next hour his nails are clipped close. Then again Jack's nails grow on his right ring and little finger near the end of the season. [3.01-3.02: 1:00pm - 3:00pm] (Thanks KS-Smitten)
~ This page can not be displayed...: Don't we all hate error messages? That's what Tony would get if he took the address that Stephen Saunders gave him to see Michelle. The IP address that is given to Tony is 257-211-16-5 but the highest number you can have for the first three numbers is 255. What a time to have a computer problem! [3.20: 8:00am - 9:00am] (Thanks computer guru Wouter Fonck)
~ Caught Ya!: When Julia shoots Sherry and we see Julia with her back to the kitchen there is a crew member visible on the extreme right. He or she is wearing black but if you freeze frame the shot (no pun intended) there is color visible and you can see their silhouette. [3.23: 11:00am - 12:00pm] (Thanks to the great eyes in the Oster family!)
~ Jumping Blood?: Again in the Julia shooting Sherry and herself scene. As Wayne is kneeling next to Sherry he doesn't actually touch her. Julia shoots herself and Wayne half-crawls over to Julia. As he does you can see blood on his white shirt, this is before he touches the body of Julia and it's right where he then puts her head. Then, in a deleted scene you see the shirt is bloody, but besides the shot of Wayne crawling, you never see blood on him. The jacket is supposed to be covering his chest before he gets over to the body. (Great job Elizabeth W.! - Thank you!)
If you find more mistakes in your viewing ventures e-mail me (I'm still not Kiefer Sutherland) and I'll check it out and post it here. You'll get credit for the find :-)
-What is the connection between Jack and Ramon that Ramon talks about in the very first episode? The drugs? Nah, that's too simple.
-Why did Kim want to tell Jack about her and Chase today? Chase knows it's going to be a rough one but she still insists on ticking Jack off.
-Are we to assume that the passing reference to the people to attempted to kill Palmer early in the season cleared all of Season2 up? Wayne says that they caught them but did they catch all of them? Is that the last we're ever going to see of Mandy, the mysterious Max et al?
-What exactly was Saunders' objective? It would have been better if it was given to us in plain English and not cryptic Saunderish.
-How did Saunders find out about Mexico and that Jack was there? Didn't all of the thugs die in the shootout? It could have been before since the informant told him that Jack had turned against CTU but it's a big gap.
-Did 'Bill' really support the health care bill? Wayne said he did when he was really talking to Julia and it would be a real surprise for David to find that he didn't later.
-What the hell happened to Margolis (from the hotel)?
-What the hell happened to Dalton (the Michael Bolton-alike CTU agent)?
-What were those pills that David was taking? Is this/has this/will this ever be significant?
-What were the pills that Jack took in Mexico?
-How does Saunders know Chapelle? He says that he knew him other than the wire transfers but how? We never did find out.
-What the hell happened to Alvers? He just magically evaporated after Michelle finished questioning him.
-What was the significance of "The sky is falling"? did that trigger the chopper attack?
-What did the drugs make go away for Jack? Ramon asked the question and I'd really like to know the answer
-What DID the guy in the red shirt want at the library? Was he dressed in red to be a red herring?
-How did CTU get the audio on that call between Saunders and Palmer? Saunders gave Palmer a clean phone and there was nothing set up to it that we saw but Jack used it when he was interrogating Jane.
-When Michelle was kidnapped what happened to the other people that we saw getting into that van?
-What happened to Ramon's children that Jack mentioned in the Episode 1? I didn't see them kicking around the farm in Mexico.
-What did Saunders really expect to prove by taking out most of the US citizens?
-What was the significance of the matching tattoo's for at least Hector and Jack? Kiefer Sutherland actually had that tattoo put on his arm permanently but it hardly played any part in the show.
-What's going to happen to that cop that let Rabins get away? He was responsible for him and Rabins got away and killed someone and very nearly killed Chase.
-Why is it that Jack's women always die except Kate? I'm all about Teri and Claudia but no, they both get killed, are they out there doing this just to spite me?
-Did Jack just heal up all nicely after Season 2 or did he end up with some sort of heart condition that we haven't been told about?
-Is Chapelle's brother relevant? Will we see him in the future?
-What about Chapelle's wife?
-What the hell happened to Mr. Kevin Kelly?
-What is a Code 6?
-If the bank accounts were set up to a router then why did Saunders want Chapelle killed? Just for kicks?
-What happened to the sat feed on the van that took Chapelle's body?
-What was the point of the biker in leather that followed Kim and Jane?
-How did Saunders get away from Operation Nightfall? How did he get out of prison overseas?
Wasted Storylines:
(They could have been so much more...)
Tony's job in Langley
Anne Packard and Ted
Palmer's hand/illness
Claudia
Stephen Saunders
The Debate - If Palmer ends up bailing on the race anyway that was a complete waste of time.
The tattoo- Kiefer got inked for, apparently no reason.
Nina knowing about Jack and Claudia
Nina knowing about Jack and Chase's argument.
Nina - even though she was due to die it was a waste.
Alvers and Nina- Did Alvers really have HIV? Nina's connection to them? Alvers asks Amador about her, she can point to both of them. Could she? Now she's dead
Amador's fear for his family and protection.
MI-6. They just blew it up and left
Dianna White. They took her to MI6, got the hard drive, found the bomb, almost got killed by the chopper, Tomlinson died, all for the hard drive that in the end was a dead end. Why did we do this? Did we just have nothing to do with Jack and Chase for a little while?
Bill Cole. Sending Chase to interrogate him seemed like a waste. It was just something to do with Chase while Jack was killing Chapelle or what?
The drug problem. This could have been milked for a lot more than it was.
Saunders. He could have been so much more.
TIME, the giant waste of time waiting for Amador in Mexico. We spent almost 2 precious hours waiting. That's a lot of 24 time.

Some Final Miscellaneous Thoughts:
-It's funny that the virus originally killed in 24 hours but the writers didn't use that. I sense we were set up.
-At the beginning of the 'day' Kim is a relative rookie at CTU without her own code, but throughout the day he become progressively more independent and important in the workings of CTU. In Episode 7 she is a big part of trying to trace an important call from Salazar and when Jack and Chase are tracking Amador in Episode 16 she is the one in charge of the GPS on Amador and coordinating the teams. That's a lot of responsibility for a newbie.
-In Episode 1 when Jack, Chase, and the prison guards are viewing the tape of Salazar killing his lawyer the camera angle that they freeze on when Ramon is smiling at the camera says 'CAM 24' at the bottom left side.
-So, ironically, Nina was right about Jack all along. She knew that he couldn't be trusted to have switched sides that easily.
-Based on what we've seen of Wayne in the end, if their mom called David the timid one, Wayne must have been an extremely ruthless child.
-Chapelle says Jack and Salazar are both expendable when they are escaping from the prison. Is it karma that he ended up being expendable himself?
-In Episode 2 Chase steps on Zack Parkers gunshot wound. In Episode 24 the same thing happens to Chase.
-Wayne was adamant about not letting Anne jeopardize everything David has worked for but in the end it was Wayne that jeopardized David's career.
-In Episode 14 Tony tells Nina she might be executed as a traitor. It's funny how that worked out since in the end Tony is the one that's probably going to jail and may be executed.
-Kim was all gung ho about telling Jack about them and taking it to the next level, now look what happened. Kim has as bad relationship luck as Jack. We've had Rick who got shot, Miguel who lost a leg and Chase that lost a hand. Rough. The destructive relationship line must run in the family. It's probably best for the sake of the community that Chase and Kim don't have kids. Who knows what would happen to the person the child dated.
-At the beginning of the season the big secret was that both Jack and Kim had a secret. It looks like Chase had one too, Angela.
- David says to Wayne in Episode 15, 'Wayne, I'm your brother I think I know when there's something going on.' But he still didn't notice in Episode 24 when Wayne came to his office about Sherry and Julia.
-We got 2 punched chicks in this day, Nina (Jack) and Sherry (Foxton).
-They seem to like to run with ideas. Chase had to cauterize his gunshot wound and then Cole was told to do the same thing to his nosebleed. Ugly.
-Chase says that he doesn't want to be 'detached' from everyone and that's why he's done with field op's. Okay but now he's detached… from his arm. (Insert bad laugh track here)
-Kudos to the makeup department for Chase's makeup - from the scratch on his hand to the cuts from the torture to the beating, it was perfect.
-I think for the entire Mexico storyline we saw some of the best acting out of Kiefer Sutherland that we've seen yet. Too bad the storyline was kind if wasteful.
-Angela was constantly called 'it' and 'that' by most of CTU.
-In one episode the 3 guys behind the reverse mole plan were in peril. Gael was being tortured for his own people, Tony was recovering from a recent gunshot wound and coming back to CTU and Jack was knocked unconscious on the plane to Mexico. Being in the loop doesn't always pay off.
-Great season, hope you all enjoyed reading this stuff and I'll hopfully see you all again for new 24 in January!!!
