At the FBI they continue to scuttle around. Moss tells Janice he wants 3 teams at the site of the abduction, a 10 mile radius for a perimeter. NSA needs to be contacted and he wants satellite sweeps. Janice will do what she can. Moss is angry and asks what she means. Janice tells Moss that NSA is all cloak and dagger and she has to get approval for everything. Moss just wants her to make it happen. Moss tells the FBI agents that another attack is imminent, they have to find Almeida and Bauer and take control of the CIP module. Larry pauses in his speech and sighs. He looks down and starts speaking telling the agents who haven’t heard that Renee Walker was abducted by these people. The agents murmur in the background as Larry, upset, says they are the only chance she has. He tells them to get to work and walks to Sean. The techs have managed to clean up the phone call recording and plays the call where Emerson talks about killing Renee in it’s entirety. When he is instructed to do it quickly, Moss looks away. Sean is trying to pull some artefacts from the recoding and Moss asks if there are any more people that can help. Sean says it’s not worth it. Moss reluctantly agrees. Sean gives his condolences, “I’m sorry about Renee, she was a good agent.” Moss flips out and gets close to Sean yelling, “We don’t know she’s dead yet!” Moss backs off, knowing he’s wrong, and leaves with his head down. Janice and Sean’s eyes meet.
Bill’s van pulls up to the site where they buried Renee. Chloe is in the passenger seat and as soon as Buchanan stops the vehicle they both jump out. Chloe asks if he is sure and Buchanan tells her Tony said she was by the backhoe. Buchanan sees a shovel left almost pointing and jumps into
the ditch yelling, ‘Right here.’ He gets down on his knees and uses his hands to dig at Renee. Chloe jumps down too and they get her head uncovered. Buchanan breaks the plastic apart and listens for sounds finding that she’s not breathing. He wants Chloe to give him the adrenaline and he starts pumping her chest to get her heart beating. Chloe pulls out the syringe and hands it to Buchanan. He listens again and hears nothing so he inserts the needle into Renee’s chest and empties it. They both wait and Chloe moves some dirt around until finally Renee breathes in and coughs painfully. Buchanan draws her attention to him and assures her kindly that she’s alright. Once she can speak, Renee asks who he is. They are working on digging her out and he explains that he is working with Jack, he told them where to find her. Buchanan keeps telling her that it’s going to be okay and encourages her to take deep breaths. He looks back at Chloe.

The van with Jack, Tony, Emerson, Lidvec, the driver and the Matobo’s, moves to its destination. Emerson speaks on the phone. He tells whoever is on the other end that he is almost at the rendezvous point, he asks for the other person’s ETA and then hangs up. He joins Jack and Tony in the back of the van and says they are all set, they are on the way with the diamonds. Emerson works on his gun and notices Jack’s expression. He asks if something is bothering Jack. Seemingly caught off guard by the question, Jack looks at Emerson and says that he is wondering why he never told Tony how he got him out of CTU. Tony is also intrigued and after a pause asks too, how did he do it? Emerson tells them it was Christopher Henderson. Jack repeats the name and says that he tried to kill Tony. Emerson corrects that he had no intention of killing Tony. Jack looks to Tony who stares at Emerson with big eyes. Emerson continues that he purposely missed the artery when he injected Tony but it was enough to slow Tony’s heart down so that Jack would think he was dead. Emerson’s job was to extract him, revive him to use against Jack. Jack asks, ‘And?’ waiting for the rest of the story. Emerson looks to Tony and explains that by the time he was stable Jack had already killed Henderson. The mission failed so Emerson’s team went dark. Jack wants to know why Emerson didn’t just let Tony go if the mission failed. Emerson informs Jack that Tony chose to stay with them. Tony is now looking away, not meeting anyone’s eyes. Emerson continues that he was consumed with hatred and anger over what the government had done to Michelle. Emerson says he talked to Tony, and more importantly, he listened to him. Pretty soon, Tony came to realize that Emerson was right. Jack wants to know what. Tony is very affected by this conversation, his eyes are large and he whispers, “That there was nothing such as honor left. That we would have to take care of each other, like brothers.” The driver calls Emerson who looks at Tony and then gets up, they are almost there. Jack asks Emerson’s back how the deal will go down. Jack will find out when they get there.
Emerson hangs onto the front partition of the van and leans in toward the driver. Jack takes the chance to ask Tony quietly if he is ready. Tony shakes his head slowly ‘no’ but then nods and says yes. Jack asks if he is sure and Tony says yeah. In the front, Emerson continues to look forward but his expression changes slightly.
The van is pulled into what looks like an airplane hangar. Inside there is a Porsche and two motorbikes as well as various other items waiting. Emerson jumps out of the van followed by Tony. Emerson wants Tony to go help with the door and Tony takes off. Jack gets out and Emerson wants him to go and get the Matobo’s. Jack takes a couple steps and Emerson follows, as he does he pulls his gun out and then grabs Jack. He takes Jack’s gun as well and puts him in a hold around the neck from behind. Tony hears the commotion and quickly kills the other guy at the door. Tony turns his gun on Emerson and Jack struggles against the arm around his neck. Emerson wants Tony to tell him what the hell is going on. Tony tells David to drop the gun. Emerson admits that he couldn’t figure out Tony’s play so he thought he would give him time to come clean, ‘because we are like brothers, aren’t we Tony?’ Tony warns him to put the gun down. Emerson figures Tony is going to try and steal the diamonds but Tony corrects him, this is not about the diamonds, it’s about killing innocent people, ‘I can’t let you finish this.’ Jack pipes up for Tony to take the shot. Emerson gives Jack the choice, “Put down the weapon or I will kill him.” Jack tells, “Tony, take the shot!” Tony yells at Jack to shut up. Tony and Emerson yell at the same time, Emerson saying he will kill Jack and Tony saying ‘I don’t want to kill you but I will!” Emerson turns to Jack, still yelling but ready to pull the trigger and Tony shoots him in the arm. Emerson lets go of Jack who crawls away. Emerson looks offended towards Tony and then goes for his gun in his holster. Tony shoots him again, this time in the neck/shoulder area. Emerson goes down and Jack gets up, securing the very dead guy by the door. On the way by he asks Tony if he is alright. Tony says yeah.
Chloe works to patch Renee up as Buchanan has been explaining what has been going on. He is at the point in the explanation where Renee wants to know who is running the operation. Buchanan admits that ‘we’ are, there is no agency. The government has had widespread infiltration by the Juma regime and Dubaku. Renee wants to contact her boss and tell him that she is okay. Buchanan tells her she can’t, Dubaku has infiltrated the FBI and they don’t know who they can trust. If they find out Renee is alive they’ll know Jack is working against them, Buchanan shakes his head. Renee thinks they can trust agent Moss but Buchanan is not letting her call him. She will jeopardize the operation and he will not let her do that. She doesn’t work for Buchanan, she works for Larry, she wants a phone. Chloe tells her to sit still. Buchanan says when she is in the end game, Dubaku is the key to finding out who is corrupted, luckily they have something he wants, Matobo. He is their best chance to locate Dubaku, reacquire the CIP module and uncover the corruption. Until all that happens, she needs to stay dead.
Jack gets out his phone and calls Buchanan. He immediately asks if agent Walker is okay. Buchanan says she is fine and Jack wants them to come to the hangar. He is going to talk to Matobo now. Jack hangs up and heads to the van but pauses when he sees Tony working to get Emerson onto a couch. He turns back to get a medical bag and meets Jack’s eyes.
Jack opens the back of the van and tries to comfort the Matobo’s. He says he is not going to hurt them, he knows what they are going through and he is going to help them. Matobo is confused and Jack starts to explain, they are trying to stop Dubaku. Matobo cannot call his people until he hears Jack out, they have a plan but can’t do it without him. Jack wants Matobo to come with him.
Dubaku is in his command centre and the man going to meet with Emerson, Nicholls, is heading out. They confirm that Matobo’s wife is with him. Dubaku wants this team tied off once they have the Matobo’s. The man asks if he is sure, they may need them again. Dubaku would rather keep his diamonds, and Almeida has proven to be a liability. Dubaku asks if there has been any response from the White House. Forces are still in position but Taylor must know they have Matobo. Either they think they can somehow retrieve him or she doesn’t believe he is willing to carry out the threats. Dubaku thinks she will only respond when they have dead Americans. He goes to the worker at the Air Traffic Radar and asks how many planes are in the air still. There are 1300 flights still in the air and Dubaku wants them to target Washington DC.

The President is on the phone and Kanin comes in. He has spoken to Bob Cornell at NSA, they have detected another firewall breach. Taylor asks if they have been attacked, not yet. The CIP is being utilized and they can assume that there is another attack coming, it won’t be a warning shot. This time people will die. Taylor wants to speak with all first responders across the country so they can brace for the possibility of an attack and let them know they have their support. Kanin likes the idea of trying to pre-empt the attack. The deadline for troops has passed but the gesture of a pullback might stop the attack. Taylor will not accept this as an option, she will not be dictated to by this madman. They discuss the reasons that Taylor will not withdraw, which she told Kanin previous to right now. Kanin reminds her that she asked him for his advice because she trusts him, well now he is giving it. They are out of options. They will keep an open channel with the agencies. The President is left alone to ponder her thoughts.
Tony tries to work on a bleeding Emerson. Trying to pry Emerson’s hands away from his neck, he has a towel ready and wants to see the wound. Tony forces the towel in and puts pressure on it. Leaning over Emerson Tony tries to explain, this was not about the diamonds, Emerson crossed a line that Tony was not willing to cross. Tony apologizes. Emerson tells Tony painfully, “If you are looking for forgiveness, go to hell.” Tony stares at Emerson, upset as Emerson tries again to pull Tony’s hands away and says, “You live with it.” Emerson starts to choke and Tony presses harder on the wound.
Jack stands with the Matobo’s, and Ule clarifies that Jack is asking them to risk their lives based on what he has told them. Everything Jack has
told them has been the truth, Dubaku is in the country and they need to find him. Matobo has as much at stake as the US does, he has attacked both of their countries. Matobo’s wife urges him to listen to Jack, Ule told her that the President will not commit forces to Sangala until the attacks have stopped. Ule asks why his wife trusts Jack, she says he has no reason to lie. Jack looks unaffected by this and Matobo agrees to do what he asks. Jack clarifies that Dubaku wants him and his wife, he will back out if he doesn’t deliver both of them. He will not put his wife in danger. Matobo knows that he wants his wife as leverage, he will torture her until he tells him what he knows. Jack confirms this with a simple, ‘Yes sir, but they will not let that happen, they will be following him.’ Matobo asks, ‘Still, you can’t promise me she won’t be harmed, can you? Can you?’ Jack looks away and Matobo will not do it. Matobo’s wife wants to speak to him a moment, Jack tells her, ‘Of course, ma’am.’ Jack steps away and she tells her husband she wants to do this. A split screen opens and Jack sees Tony sitting on the couch next to a still Emerson. Matobo’s wife says she is ashamed of opening the door, she wants to do what is right for their country, he can’t stop her, it is her country too. She puts her hands on either side of his face and says that she has been by his side for 22 years and she is not going to leave now. Ule looks to Jack and calls him over, ‘Mr. Bauer.’ Jack comes back and they agree to do this together. Jack thanks them and tells them they are being very brave. They will need to go soon. He asks to be excused one moment and quickly takes off towards Tony and Emerson. Jack gets close but not too close and Tony doesn’t turn around. Jack calls Tony and tells him the Matobo’s are going to work with them, they have to go. Tony doesn’t acknowledge Jack, just stares at Emerson, dead. Jack calls Tony again, softer this time. After a few more seconds, Tony stands and wants to get the bodies out of sight. Jack agrees and Tony watches Jack leave with a strange look on his face. He looks back at Emerson.

The man working for Dubaku says they are locked on the FAA node. He gets the okay to begin rerouting the targets. He gives headings to two planes and we see on his screen their courses will intersect. Dubaku wants to call the White House.

Taylor comes into a cabinet meeting and Tim gives the information about the flights. One plane was large and one was small. There will likely be casualties on the ground near Edgeburrow. Tim takes a briefing and then tells the others that Congressman Brighton and his wife may have been on one of the flights. There are planes still in the air and Joe wants the forces withdrawn. Taylor sits and wants to hear from Tim. Tim says they are not prepared to contend with the scope of the damage, this tragedy is nothing compared to the sufferings of 100’s of thousands. This cannot succeed without Matobo and their opposition in Sangala is useless without him. Taylor figures there is still a chance of Matobo being recovered and while the chances exist they are not giving in. Admiral Smith has a strike force ready. Joe argues about the situation but she is not negotiating. Bitterly, Joe tells her to tell that to the families of the dead, these acts of terrorism are brought on by her reckless policy decisions. The people will be talking impeachment. Kanin steps up in Taylor’s defence and Taylor wants his resignation. He either needs to sit down or leave. Joe looks down and then closes the folder in front of him. He apologizes to the President and then tells the others darkly to think about what they are doing here, think about the price they are willing to pay. Taylor launches into a speech about their challenges today and how their decisions can redefine an entire generation of Sangalans and Americans and people that look to them for guidance and strength. She thanks them all and leaves and Kanin watches her go. She pauses at the elevator to collect herself.

Chloe suits up with a pair of gloves and Mrs. Matobo looks to her husband. Chloe pulls a stool forward and tells Matobo to have a seat. He is hesitant but he complies. Chloe pulls out a small jar and tweezers and gets asked what she is doing. She pulls a small white object and says they are affixing it to one of his teeth and it will let them know where he is at all times. As she approaches Matobo with the cap, he asks her, ‘Are you with the FBI?’ Chloe shakes her head and nearly rolls her eyes, “No, I’m a stay at home mom. Open your mouth please.”
Buchanan and Jack are at the back of the van, doors open. Bill updates Jack that Chloe accessed the FBI server, he tells Jack about the planes and the threats. Jack has finished preparing a large gun and Renee asks how long it will be before Nicholls gets there. Jack looks over his shoulder at her and says 10 minutes. Buchanan hands Jack his comm and takes off. Jack turns to face Renee and notices she is hanging onto the side of the van. He asks if she is okay but she says she is just dizzy. He wants her to take a seat but she protests. Jack guides her down to the edge of the van and she asks if it’s all really true. Jack says it is and Renee can’t believe it, she devoted her life to the bureau and he expects her to believe that it’s all corrupt. Jack tells her not all of them, but they don’t know who they can trust. Renee asks Jack before he goes if he believes the 4 of them can stop all of this. “We have to; it’s as simple as that.” Jack leaves.
Tim stops Kanin in the hall and says the President is alone on this and she is going to get a lot of Americans killed. Kanin knows who might be able to change her mind, someone she will listen to and he might be able to convince him to help them.
Henry Taylor sits, still paralyzed as the Agent Gritch works on the apartment, all business with his tie tucked into his shirt. He pulls the cable wire out of the wall and he is holding onto a knife as he cuts the cable. His phone rings and the other guy working with the agent agent says he just dropped Sam off, she is on her way up. He will stay in the car and keep watch, Gritch will call when he is finished. He pulls up his gloves and rolls the cord.
Outside, Sam comes out of the elevator and pulls the key out from under the mat. She unlocks the door and Henry sees her enter but can’t make any sound. She takes off her jacket and strolls into the living room going trough her mail and sees Henry there. She jumps when she sees him and after recovering asks him kindly how he got in there. He can’t answer and she gets closer asking if he is okay. The agent gets behind her but Henry can still do nothing. She tells him if he doesn’t tell her what’s wrong, she can’t help him. Gritch gets behind her and stabs her in the back with a knife. She goes down and tries to crawl away but can’t, Gritch grabs her and turns her over and takes a second to look at Taylor before plunging the knife into her chest. A cell phone rings and Gritch gets up, it’s Kanin calling. He wants to talk to Taylor but he can’t right now, he is in Samantha Roth’s apartment. Kanin is unhappy, he was supposed to keep him away. Gritch claims to be outside waiting in the car but Kanin wants him to go and get Henry and call him as soon as possible. Gritch hangs up and goes to Taylor. He puts the knife in Henry’s hand tightens his fingers around it. Henry tries to talk but Gritch tells him not to try and speak, there is nothing left to say.

Tony is with Matobo and his wife, they are in the back of the yellow van. It’s time and Tony closes the gate and shuts the door. Buchanan tells Tony’s earpiece that they are coming. 1 car and he can’t tell how many are inside. Tony copies. Chloe is working on a laptop as Renee watches. The vehicle is a tinted out Cadillac SUV and Tony waits looking mean. 4 thugs get out of the vehicle including Nicholls. Nicholls asks how Tony is, he says he’s alright. Nicholls is glad to hear Tony is still with them. He asks where Emerson is. Nicholls will not be dealing with Emerson today,
he’s dead. Tony says Lidvec and Bauer are too, he has them in the back room and offers to take Nicholls to say hi. Nicholls wants to know what’s going on, Tony doesn’t want to split the cut. Nicholls thought Tony and Emerson were friends but Tony tells him that was before he left him to rot with the FBI. Does Nicholls want Matobo or not? Nicholls wants to see him but Tony wants the diamonds first. Nicholls nods and the diamonds are put down on the hood of the SUV. Tony opens the case up and pulls out a little velvet black bag. He dumps the diamonds out and holds a magnifying glass and one of the stones up to the light. Tony is satisfied and Nicholls wants Matobo. Tony tosses the keys to one of the thugs and tells them they’re in the back of the truck. The thug goes and unlocks it, letting the Matobo’s out. They say nothing. Tony packs up and Nicholls says that they might call Tony again. He nods to the behind Tony who pulls his gun out and aims it at Tony’s head. A shot rings out above and Jack has taken out the thug. Gunfire erupts and Tony and Jack wound one of the thugs, kill another and Tony is left shooting near Nicholls to get him to surrender. Once things have calmed down Tony says they can put that behind them. Nicholls has what he wants and Tony tells him to get out of there. The two of them get the Matobo’s and load them into the vehicle. They take off and Jack continues pointing the gun at them until they are out of sight. Buchanan confirms they are clear and Jack wants Chloe to get everyone ready to move out.

Agent Gritch pulls Henry upstairs in the loft and puts him down on the couch. The agent has used the cable cord to make a noose. He uses the rafter in the loft and then ties the end down. Taylor can talk now a bit and says the agents’ name. He has also discovered that he can make his hands into a fist. He pleads with the agent not to do this but he is ready. He pulls the noose down and gets Henry up who again says, ‘Please.’ He pulls Henry to the railing but before he gets the noose around his neck, Henry starts to struggle. They both end up going over the ledge, Gritch on the bottom, landing on the table downstairs. They hit the ground in the mess and Henry gets the upper hand on the injured agent. He chokes him until he stops breathing and then rolls over.
In the split screen we see Henry, the President, a plane, Sean’s wife, Tony riding shotgun in the Bill-mobile with Chloe in the back and Buchanan driving and we see Janice.
The White House is still not complying, Dubaku talks on the phone figures that the President is not stubborn, she is insane. He intends to do exactly what he promised. His lackey is ready and tells him that the target is Kidron, Ohio, population 30,000. The processing facility is 2 miles west of the centre of town and the casualties will be high, about 18,000. Dubaku says to begin.

Miscellaneous Thoughts:
-It’s a good thing Larry is not at CTU, he would never have survived there, WAY too emotional.
-Larry just needs ‘I love Renee’ printed on a t-shirt.
-Janice is certainly no Chloe.
-I see Larry has fixed his tie and his nose looks better. That was quick.
-You know, Moss is pretty good at delegating but he’s basically ineffective in the important situations, you know, like, now.
-Moss is right, Renee is not dead yet… but only because of Jack, you know, the man he hated a few hours ago (and still does.) If only he knew.
-For those who are wondering, I’m going to assume the tracker and bug that Buchanan gave to Tony a couple of hours ago, the one that Chloe and Buchanan overheard them discussing killing Jack, is still effective and that’s how they knew where Renee was buried. He probably said something about the backhoe while Jack and him were alone burying her. It was easy to forget about this altogether since we didn’t see or hear a word out of Buchanan or Chloe in the last useless hour.
-Lucky guess on Buchanan’s part figuring out which end is up for Renee. I guess that’s the shovel pointing thing.
-Watch the black bag when Chloe gets down in the ditch. She tosses it across and gets down next to Bill. Then, when he asks for the adrenaline it’s magically right there. Wow.
-Buchanan sounds pretty panicked for someone who is supposed to be reassuring a near-dead agent.
-Talk about literally getting out in the field and getting their hands dirty, nice change for Buchanan and Chloe.
-If you haven’t seen it, you should see ‘The Vanishing’ with Kiefer Sutherland and Jeff Bridges. Creepy creepy movie but in it, Kiefer gets buried alive. In an interview I’ve heard him talking about how they didn’t really tell him ahead of time but they really did bury him in order to dig him up in one scene. He said it was the scariest thing he’s ever done.
-On that note, that may be where they got this idea from.
-I found this conversation with Jack, Tony and Emerson very interesting for a few reasons. The first is, why would Jack give Emerson the tell that something is on his mind? Not really the best place for this kind of thing, especially since their lives are on the line and Tony is super emotional about everything. Next is, why would he bring this up? I guess he wants to know about whatever moles were inside CTU but he never did get the names anyway, other than Henderson. He didn’t find out who was working with him and who brought Tony back.
-So, Christopher Henderson. There has been some dissent among 24 fans as to how this could possibly be true, Henderson was working as a patriot to the US for Logan, he was prepared to give his life to do what he felt was best for the country. Emerson seems to be the opposite. At the same time, Henderson was involved with Collette Stinger who was part of the conspiracy to kill Americans by selling the plans for the plant, so was he playing both sides? I can see this happening 1 of 2 ways. Either a) Henderson WAS playing both sides and had a connection with Emerson. He knew Emerson was after Tony after Michelle’s death, Emerson had been watching Tony since he left CTU and when Michelle died it was the perfect opportunity. Henderson made it happen there in the clinic. The ‘cooked’ coma was a fake (which is probable anyway because he came out of it) so Henderson could get away and the Tony death was a convenient side effect or b) Henderson really was a true patriot in his own twisted way and figured that he and/or Emerson could use Tony down the line to help him get way or get something they want. Working with Emerson may have been distasteful for Henderson but in the end, he would need to use Jack for something or in case he was caught again. Using Tony as a hostage would have been the best way to do that.
-On the same idea, the chronology looks like this: Henderson ‘kills’ Tony, he had previously heard from Emerson about this plan, before he was in CTU custody. Probably they were planning to get Tony out some way while he was still unconscious but he woke up just a few hours before. So, he settles for the Hyocine Penathol route. Henderson ‘kills’ Tony and his body is taken away. Henderson had to leave him because Jack (or someone) had to find Tony dead. Henderson takes off out of CTU all together and assumes that the plan will function at Emerson’s command without him. He probably would get a call or a text message after Tony was stabilized so they could put that part of the plan into action. So, Tony’s body is taken to CTU’s morgue or immediately transported somewhere. If it was taken to the morgue, Emerson would have had to have people there to inject Tony’s body with the hypothermic compound. Probably at least 2 people, 1 to do the work and 1 to guard. If he is transported right away (less likely) it would have to have been the person or people in that transport that were working with Emerson. It’s not too much of a stretch. I buy it. Then, when Henderson is with Jack on the sub at gunpoint and Jack accuses Henderson of killing Tony, Henderson wouldn’t know for sure that Tony is alive. Emerson wouldn’t be telling Henderson anything if Tony wasn’t stable so he wouldn’t have heard anything yet. He couldn’t know for sure that Tony was alive and may have assumed that he was dead anyway. If that idea doesn’t work for you, it does re-open the ‘Henderson is alive’ door. Henderson asked Jack to help him disappear like he did, people thinking he was dead. They could have revived him after he was off screen as well under Jack’s plans, part of the deal to get him to work with CTU so there was no reason for him to say anything. He had to ‘die’ to get away.
-I can see why the news of Henderson being the reason Tony is alive could affect him the way it did. Henderson was the man responsible for killing Palmer and Michelle and attempting to kill him. Emerson may not have known about the attempt on Tony’s life earlier in the day, he probably wasn’t involved in that part of it. So when he realizes that the attempt on Tony’s life had failed, he really wanted him as part of his crew and contacted Henderson.
-This is also a good mask for Tony’s feelings about Emerson. He knows that what they are doing is probably going to end in Emerson’s death. He is a loyal person and would not let Tony simply walk away, he would fight, and Tony knows that.
-When Emerson says ‘Michelle’ I definitely detect an accent. It’s been off and on for a while, but you can’t hide it forever (unless you’re Hugh Laurie on House J )
-But hey, I’m not going to try and nit pick the whole, Tony is alive, thing. I stated in one of my own summaries, I don’t care HOW they do it, they just need to bring Tony back. I would settle for him just walking in and saying hi like nothing happened.
-Just wanna take a second here and reflect on the strength of the 3 actors in the van. Of course, Kiefer Sutherland and then Carlos Bernard doing such a spectacular job as Tony. I can’t believe how much he adds to the show. Plus, Peter Wingfield has done an awesome job of getting into this role (with the exception of the weird accent thing). Such great stuff.
-Jack shouldn’t have said anything to Tony. I think that was the final straw that tipped Emerson. Either that or he figured that Tony wouldn’t be that moved be the Henderson revelation.
-I was kind of hoping that we would get to see them use the Porsche and motorbikes.
-Tony has really good hearing to have been able to figure out from Jack’s grunt that Emerson was taking him. Also that was the fastest turning sequence in history.
-Overall, I have noticed a few little weird editing glitches this season. It’s weird because 24 is usually exceptional about this but there were at least 3 this episode I picked up on. First, Chloe’s bag, then when Emerson goes for Jack he pulls out his own gun and then takes Jack’s gun from it’s holster as well. He ends up with Jack’s in his hand because his own had a silencer but his seems to have evaporated. Also, in the same scene, right before Tony shoots Emerson and Emerson is getting ready to shoot Jack, we hear Emerson yelling but his lips aren’t moving. This is normal kind of mistakes for any other show, but 24 is usually a higher standard than that.
-The expression on Emerson’s face when Tony shoots him is perfect. Betrayal, pure and simple.
-Wingfield is only a couple inches taller than Sutherland, but he looks massively taller in the shots where he has Jack hostage. I guess Kiefer has his knees bent.
-That was a seriously good shot by Tony on the other guy all the way at the door. After I’d seen that, if I were Jack, I’d want Tony to take the shot too.
-Chloe the medic, that’s different. Could you imagine her bedside manner as a doctor? Brutal.
-This is a serious infiltration by Dubaku and Juma if they are working on the ‘trust no one’ basis. I guess that’s normal for Jack, but Buchanan and Chloe… that’s different.
-Twice in 3 minutes we are given the ‘you can’t call anyone’ speech.
-I felt like Renee’s acting was really strong in the first couple of episodes with Kiefer. Now, especially when she’s stressed, I’m finding her not quite up to snuff with the rest of the cast. It’s especially evident when she’s next to Buchanan.
-I hope Buchanan realizes how giant that list of objectives sounds.
-It’s nice that Jack cares about Renee… for now. Passing concern = okay. Love built in 24 hours = terrible. See also, Kate Warner.
-For some reason, it feels a lot more real to hear Dubaku say Tony’s name.
-It seems a little ridiculous that there are still 1300 planes in the air. I mean, I’m certainly no expert, but that’s a little crazy.
-So, let me get this straight. They can tell when the firewall has been breached but they can’t do anything to stop it. Sure, that sounds right.
-Not to sound too negative, but we get it, we got it from the 90% of screen time last hour – the President will not give in. I know! Do we have to spend all this time on it.
-It seems a little morbid to just wait around for a bunch of people to die.
-Poor Tony, he really does care for Emerson. It’s so sad that he had to die. I guess that proves to Jack that Tony, at least for now, is really on their side.
-Emerson sure looks rough. I didn’t really expect him to die.
-I just love how Jack is so nice to the important people, calling the Matobo’s sir and ma’am. So cute.
-The wife shouldn’t be ashamed of opening the door. She did the right thing because now they can help, if she didn’t they’d be dead, and useless to this mission.
-I love how they all gather around the little cell phone of Tim’s. Hilarious.
-Rule #1 for the President. If a terrorist tells you to go to the window, it’s probably a good idea to go the other way. That’s a recipe for a David Palmer style death.
-I hope that Tony stays working with Jack. To be perfectly honest, I can’t see a whole lot of happy endings coming for these two. Tony has been working as a criminal/terrorist for the last few years. Even though he is helping now, he has done some “pretty bad things.” He also has a record that could work against him. I can see him trying something crazy to get away from the charges. I think at the end of the year he and Jack should take off somewhere together, but that might be too much to hope for since Jack has a court date ‘tomorrow’.
-Can’t tell you how happy I am that Joe resigned. Now we don’t have to listen to him whine anymore and we don’t have to listen to Taylor’s argument over and over again.
-Um, Jack, you’re not landing a plane… you don’t need to wave Buchanan to an exact parking spot like that. I know you’re at an air field but it’s a van, Jack, a van.
-Oh so tired of Renee’s whining to Jack as well. Yes, we know, he tried to kill you. Get over yourself, that’s how he shows he likes you. If he didn’t like you, you wouldn’t be alive to have this conversation. Suck it up, princess.
-I love the little scared look Matobo’s wife gives him when Chloe pulls the gloves on.
-Line of the week contender: Matobo: Are you with the FBI? Chloe: “No, I’m a stay at home mom.”
-Although I totally knew what was going to happen at the exchange as soon as I saw Jack with the giant gun, I still loved it.
-Jack’s answer for Renee about stopping all this is great. “We have to.” Okie dokie, then. Thank you voice of reason. Oh wait, that’s voice of complete insanity.
-I thought that Tim was the President’s only ally in this whole disaster. Apparently not.
-If I hear the words ‘25 th Amendment’, I’m just going to stop summarizing the President stuff and put ‘refer to Season 2’
-Those are some nice bicep-high plastic gloves Agent Gritch has. Are those special order killin’ gloves or what?
-If this is Sam’s apartment, why is she using the key under the mat?
-If that’s where that key is all the time, how can she possibly be surprised that Taylor is in there. It’s not like it’s rocket science to find a key hidden under a mat.
-Sam is stupid to ask Henry that many times to talk to her without actually going to him.
-Gritch, sounds a lot like Bitch.
-That was an ugly death for Sam. Nasty.
-I could think of many things that I would like to say to Gritch if I was in Henry’s position.
-Nice SUV those guys are driving. Of course, it now comes complete with a scratch on the hood from that case and a couple of bullet holes.
-Nicholls has no idea how many people are glad that Tony is ‘still with us’, only in a different context.
-What would Tony do if Nicholls wanted to go say hi to Emerson and Bauer. Emerson no problem, Bauer, problem.
-Tony’s pretty pro at the diamond thing. Nice job.
-That would have been one full SUV if Jack and Tony hadn’t taken care of some of the thugs.
-Great Jack quote, “Get everyone ready to move out.” Everyone? Sorry, did I miss a memo? I don’t think you can call it ‘everyone’ if there aren’t enough of them to need 2 hands to count them.
-Betcha half way up the stairs Gritch was wondering if there was a better way to do this.
-Henry does a nice job with the struggle for a guy who looks like he’s never been in a fight before.
-That solves the mystery of the fall from the trailers. I was wondering who that was.
-Although Kidron, Ohio doesn’t sound like much (sorry if you’re from there), it gets the point across. Yes they are willing to kill people. They don’t want to kill too many people, just enough. Perfect.
-Side note - in the still of Chloe and Jack 2 things I noticed. 1 is that Renee, in the van, is sitting on a Pelican brand case. They rock. 2 is that MLR (AKA Chloe) is pregnant in that photo. This was obviously done before the strike when she was still expecting.
