At Senator Meyer’s house he lays dead on the ground. Little crime scene numbers are everywhere and a forensic team is on site. Moss is in the house and walks around observing everything that’s going on and the crime scene itself. Guys take notes and work the clues to the case. Moss sees the ruminants of the broken French doors and looks up and around. An agent comes to Moss and says that they have a perimeter in the immediate area but there is no sign of Bauer. Moss wants to widen the grid and look at security cameras in the area. Someone must have seen something. An agent pulls a bullet out of the banister.

Moss wanders away from the agents and makes a call on his cell to Kanin. Kanin was just about to take a drink but rushes to the phone when the voice says that it’s Moss on the line. When Moss is connected, Kanin says, ‘Tell me Jack Bauer is in custody.’ Moss is in a room with a pool table and he wanders saying he wishes that were the case but the truth is, it’s Senator Meyer, he’s dead. Moss is unhappy to be giving this news to Kanin and he asks angrily, “What?” Moss fills him in that he was murdered at his house and they know Jack Bauer was on the way to see him a short time ago, they got there too late. Kanin asks, ‘What are you telling me, that Jack Bauer has killed a United States Senator?’ That’s the assumption Moss is working under. Kanin is angry and asks Moss how he could let this happen. Moss says sadly that he had them all fooled. Kanin blames Larry for this, he released Bauer into his custody. Moss shoots back at Kanin that he is not going lay this at his feet. It was Kanin’s decision to give Bauer access to Burnett and he advised him against it. Kanin looks troubled but doesn’t say anything. Moss is confused and pulls his cell phone back from his ear to check the service. He sees its fine and calls out to Kanin. Kanin is devastated by this and breathes in. He asks, ‘Sorry, what did you say?’ Moss is a little calmer and says he advised Kanin against this. Kanin nods and then says yes, he did. Moss looks around and tells Kanin what they are doing. He just wants Bauer found. Moss says he will. He hangs up the phone and Kanin does the same. Kanin looks around at a loss for what to do. He slowly sits down in his chair and sits back.

Jack drives his stolen truck and talks on the phone with Tony. He explains that Starkwood is involved in everything including Juma and the White House raid. They were developing a WMD in Sagnala to use as a bioweapon in the US. He and Senator Meyer were piecing the information together when he was killed. Tony asks if the weapon is already there but Jack says the information he got off the phone of the commando says it would arrive at the Port of Alexandria at 10:15. Tony wants Jack to call it in to the FBI but Jack scolds, “We’re fugitives, Tony. No one will believe us.” They need to know exactly where the weapon is before they call anyone else in on this. Jack asks Tony point plank if he is with him on this. Tony is with him. They are going to meet at the north end of the road before the main entrance to the port. Tony will be there.

Taylor speaks on the phone to her husband who is awake and seems to be recovering in hospital. He sounds weak but is otherwise okay. She tells him that they have captured all those responsible for the attacks and Roger’s death. She says that something good at least came out of this, Olivia is with her at the White House, she has come home. They are both relieved and Taylor says she asked her to stay on as an advisor. Henry calls her Ali and says she doesn’t know how happy that makes him. She knows that he is tired but she promises she and Olivia will be there as soon as they can. Henry is not going anywhere and they exchange I love you’s. Taylor hangs up and Henry slowly takes the phone down from his ear as well.

Kanin has entered while she was on the phone and Taylor says they expect Henry to make a full recovery. Kanin says that’s good and Taylor is relieved. Maybe, just maybe, this day can end on a positive note. Kanin looks on but says nothing. She looks at him and gauges his expression before asking what is wrong. He is sorry to have to tell her this but Senator Meyer is dead. She is shocked and he says that all signs point to the fact that he was murdered by Jack Bauer. Taylor repeats his name and Kanin knows this is hard to believe. Taylor says it doesn’t make any sense after what happened today. They don’t know why he would do this but Kanin says they’ll know more when they find him. Taylor sits back but Kanin isn’t finished. He says that in light of everything that’s happened, for the sake of her administration he thinks he has no choice but to resign as her Chief of Staff. He knows that it will come to light that he sanctioned Bauer’s release and unless he steps down immediately her office and she personally will be held responsible. She thinks the story can be killed but Kanin doesn’t think so. He apologizes for not doing enough to protect her, ‘The truth is, I failed you and I should shoulder the blame for what has happened.’ She thinks he is taking this too far but he says he isn’t, her daughter made it abundantly clear that he has a lot to answer for. She is reluctant to let him go, he has been nothing but an invaluable advisor and an even better friend. He says they will be appointing a special prosecutor to come after him and she looks away. He tells her kindly, ‘You’re a great woman, Allison, and you have great work yet to do.’ He reiterates that he’s a liability and he doesn’t want to compromise her next 3 years in office. He doesn’t want to sink her agenda. She reminds him it’s ‘our agenda, Ethan.’ They get closer and he smiles and agrees. He urges her that it’s the right thing to do, accept his resignation. She looks stressed out and then looks at the ground. She puts her hand on his arm and runs it down to his wrist. He puts his hand over hers and she nods. He will have the letter on her desk in the morning. He leaves her standing over the Presidential logo in the office.

Tony is in the dark with a pair of binoculars looking at the containers. Jack comes up from behind and now has a gun. He asks how they are doing, it was offloaded today. Tony is sceptical; it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. There must be a thousand containers there. Jack needs to access the manifest. He asks about security. Tony saw 1 port authority officer. Jack asks, ‘That’s it?’ Tony confirms it. Jack figures that there has to be more than one. He tells Tony they should move.

Carl, the officer at the port, talks on the phone with his pregnant wife. He took an extra shift to make money for their twin girls. He hears some noise and will call her back. He goes to a container that’s unlocked and dark. He peeks with his flashlight and Jack appears behind him. He puts his gun to the officer and tells him not to even think about going for his weapon. Carl turns and Jack frisks him and hands his weapon off to Tony. Jack asks where the port manifest is and when Carl doesn’t answer Jack puts his gun to Carl’s head. Carl says it’s in customs house and tells him which way. Jack releases the gun from his head.

Hodges talks on the phone with his lead man, Stokes. He says Quinn is not answering his cell. Stokes is worried, if Bauer took him out then the authorities might know about their operation. Hodges says it’s likely and Stokes wants to know if they should stand down. Hodges says no, give Quinn 5 more minutes and then go in but do so with extreme caution and contact him as soon as they have the container.

Greg comes over to Hodges and says that the board members are there but it’s tense in there. Hodges calls them a bunch of 6 year olds that need to eat their carrots. Hodges takes a file from Greg and walks to the conference room. Greg follows and Hodges tells the group of suits sitting around the table that this has been a rough day for the United States. The White House under siege, President taken hostage. Hodges gives the group a bunch of facts, each proceeded by the word “Fact”. The US military is strained to the breaking point, reinstatement of the draft is off the table and the people in this room control the largest private army in the Western hemisphere. Hodges tells them that they could have helped today but they weren’t called. Hodges points out Doug and that he brokered a deal with the government. The global war on terror is only going to be won by forces like theirs. Hodges tells them that there will be no more depositions, no documents or phone calls. Doug asks angrily if this is what the meeting was about. They argue about the risk of federal indictments for this board if they don’t cooperate with the investigations. Their documents have been filed and depositions taken but Hodges says not any more. Hodges wants to talk this out with Doug outside about this. He tells the rest of them that if they have questions they can ask Greg. The two of them leave and a bunch of the board members close in on Greg with their questions.

Outside the room Hodges and Doug are alone. Doug doesn’t think that Starkwood will survive an all out war on a Senate Subcommittee. Hodges assures him that they won’t need to worry about Senator Meyer. Hodges tells him quietly that he is dead, he was killed by a rogue federal agent not one hour ago. He assesses it a tragedy. Hodges attempts to walk away but Doug calls him back. Jonas turns and Doug asks him, ‘Tell me you had nothing to do with this?’ Hodges asks evenly, ‘Are you accusing me of complacency in Senator Meyer’s death?’ Doug wants his personal assurance that he had nothing to do with this. Hodges comes back close and says, ‘Starkwood is not in the business of political assassination. Maybe we should look into it. I hear it’s a growth market.’ Hodges walks away.

Tony watches out the window and asks if Jack found anything. Jack is working on the computer and Jack says that there were 12 ships unloaded today. Tony asks if any came from Sangala and Jack says it doesn’t have a deepwater port. It would have had to come over land to Port Noire. Jack searches that up and finds that 2 of the 12 ships had been there in the last week. Jack is trying to get deeper into the files and finds that he needs a username and password to access the next level of files. He swears, “Dammit!” and Tony asks what’s wrong. Jack explains that he can’t access the manifest. He gets up and goes over to the security guard removing the masking tape over his mouth. Jack asks his name and he says it’s Carl Getz. Carl says that he doesn’t know anything about any passwords. Jack leans in and asks Carl to listen to him very carefully. The same terrorists that took down 2 planes and attacked the White House have a weapon of mass destruction sitting in their yard and they are coming to pick it up. Carl stares and Jack tries to work him saying he knows it’s hard to believe. Carl cuts him off and says it’s not. Jack is shocked and Carl says that he doesn’t have a lot of time, they should already have been there. Both Jack and Tony watch as Carl explains that these people told him that they were smuggling electronics from South Korea, he had no idea they were terrorists. He was supposed to open the front gate and disable the security cameras. Jack asks about other people working and Carl says that he is the supervisor and he makes the schedules. He made sure he was the only one there. Jack tells Tony, ‘That’s enough confirmation for me.” He tells Tony to untie Carl and gets out his cell phone but finds he has no signal. Jack goes to the land line in the office and finds it dead as well. Carl has asked Tony who he is calling and Tony tells him the authorities. Jack realizes someone is jamming their communications. Tony has untied Carl and a two way radio goes off asking for Carl. Carl says that it’s ‘them’, they gave him that radio. Jack has gone to another window and looks outside for the commandos. He wants Carl to play along. Carl doesn’t think he can. Jack slinks below the window and tells him to answer it. Tony is at the door watching from that side. Stokes is calling and says they are there and waiting. Carl says okay. Jack tells Carl to get his belt back on and resume his post. He needs to pretend that everything is normal and let him in. Once they have the weapon Jack and Tony plan to follow them and once they are outside the jamming grid they will call the authorities. Carl doesn’t know but Jack presses him, he is part of this whether he likes it or not. Tony gets Jack’s attention, he has 3 vehicles outside with 8 hostiles visible, probably more in the trucks. Jack knows that they will come looking for Carl if he doesn’t get out there. Jack puts it to him this way, there are 300 people dead and if these people get a hold of this weapon that’s going to look like child’s play. He only has one chance. Jack prods Carl to just open the gate and let them in, that’s all he has to do. He asks Jack, ‘And you guys got my back right?’ Jack agrees. Carl presses Jack to promise him. Jack looks at Tony for a second and then promises. Tony looks down but Carl agrees. Jack wants Tony to get the surveillance package. Carl asks what that is and Jack explains it’s so they can hear what’s going on. They need to put it on Carl’s back and while Jack does it Carl tries to explain that the money wasn’t about greed or anything. His wife is having twins and it took them three years a lot of money. No excuses but insurance doesn’t cover a dime. Carl always wanted to have a family. Jack gives Carl something to put in his pocket and Tony has him in his ear piece. Jack preps him, ‘Remember, it’s just another day at the office.’ Tony comes over and they are ready to go. Jack lets Carl out and Tony watches. Jack looks guilty as he meets Tony’s eyes.

Carl goes to the gate and asks Stokes if he has the routing documents. He hands it though the gap in the gate, Carl will need it to locate the container. Carl looks at it while he opens the gate and directs him to the right row. Stokes knows where it is. He makes sure Carl disabled the security cameras and they have been off since 10, just like Stokes said. Stokes assesses the area and asks how Carl’s wife is. She is fine, he says. Stokes makes sure that Carl didn’t tell anyone about this and Carl nervously says of course not. Jack and Tony listen as Stokes wants to know why Carl is so nervous. Jack shots an uneasy glance at Tony and Carl lies that he was just expecting a simple pick up but Stokes showed up with a small army and he doesn’t want to get caught. Stokes reassures Carl that no one is going to get caught. He wants the others to get moving and Carl too. He wants him to take a ride. Now Jack is very worried and Carl tries to convince them to let him stay there, he has to finish his patrol. Stokes wants to know if he is expecting something but Carl isn’t. Stokes tells him to get in. Carl nods and then goes to the car.

Inside, Jack whispers, “Dammit.” Tony looks at Jack and watches out the window. ‘Forget about him, Jack. He was dead the minute he stepped out that door. You and I both know that.’ Jack looks at Tony and then back out the door. The trucks are brought in.

Kanin packs his things including a photo into his briefcase. Olivia arrives and says she’s sorry. Kanin appreciates the courtesy but not the sincerity. She apologizes for some of the things she said and he returns the sentiment about the press. She is not surprised that he thought she was trying to blindside him considering the impression she gave him. He offers her some advice as someone that has known her almost her entire life. Ambition can be a valuable quality, in Washington and in life, but unchecked it can be unhealthy, if not dangerous. He is trying to tell her that she got herself a seat at the President’s table, she listens to Olivia but running the country is not like running a campaign. It’s not about doing what it takes to win, it’s about doing what is right for the American people. Olivia thinks those things don’t have to be mutually exclusive. He looks like she doesn’t understand and closes the briefcase. He bids her goodbye and walks out of the office.

Olivia watches him leave and then pulls out her cell phone. She calls the reporter that approached Kanin last episode, Ken. She says smugly that he can go with that story now and it got better, Kanin has resigned. She brings him up to speed on Jack Bauer and tells him that no one else has this yet. It’s all his in time for the 11 news. She makes sure that Kanin will be the fall guy and this gets nowhere near her mother. Olivia’s mother has no idea about the leak. Ken asks about the dinner they were going to have, she puts him off, next week. She tells him to get to work if he is going to make the broadcast.

Moss walks around Meyer’s place still and he is given the preliminary ballistics. Moss asks about the files on the computer, someone was looking at them before he was killed. The agent tells Moss they were opened and viewed within the last hour. Moss looks over the report and starts, ‘So, the sen…’ he trails off before squinting and then continuing, ‘If the senator was killed point blank in the entry hall, how do we explain the slugs in the doorframe and the railing?’ The agent doesn’t know. Moss wants the crime lab guys on it. He hands the electronic report back to the agent. Moss looks around and thinks. He pulls out his phone.

Renee is in holding pacing around. Someone enters and hands a phone to her, it’s Moss. Moss tells her right off that Senator Meyer is dead. Renee asks where Jack is. Moss casually says he doesn’t know, they don’t have him. Renee stutters to ask if Larry thinks Jack did this, Burnett and now Meyer. Moss looks over the shoulder of a tech on the computer and says it looks that way. Renee asks what he means about ‘looks that way.’ This is why Moss is calling. Meyer was killed with a UMP 40 submachine gun. If Bauer is on the run, how did he get a hold of a weapon like that? Also there’s evidence that there was a third party in the house when the senator was killed, there are unexplained slugs, a set of broken French doors, a chair where it doesn’t belong. Renee asks if he is saying this third party killed Meyer. Moss now shows his frustration, “You know, Renee, I might be sayin’ it if I knew what the hell Bauer was doing here in the first place.” Renee lowers the phone and Moss says he wants to meet Renee half way but if she expects him to even entertain the idea that Bauer is innocent, she is going to have to help him. Renee can’t, if Jack is still underground it’s for a reason. Moss is stressed out. He says there were files open on the computer to do with Starkwood. He wants her to just tell him if Starkwood ever came up in her conversations with Bauer. Renee again lowers the phone and Moss drops his completely and looks to the sky. He tries damage control. Maybe he should have trusted her before, but she has to trust him now. He wants to know what role Starkwood plays in all of this. Renee thinks and seems to be weighing her options. Finally she shakes her head and tells Moss that the man who framed Jack for murdering Burnett, John Quinn, he works for Starkwood as a contractor and Jack believes that they were behind Juma and all of the terrorist attacks today. He went to Meyer to get the evidence to prove it and they can assume that Quinn followed him there. That’s all Renee knows, she swears. Moss believes her, he thanks her. He wants her to sit tight and he will be in touch. Renee wants to help, Jack could need help, he could still be out there. Moss can’t release her yet and Renee shakes her head. She hangs up on him.

The guys working for Starkwood are bringing down the container with a truck. Stokes wants Reese’s status. He is just putting the chassis on the truck. Stokes wants him to hurry. They put the container down closer and Stokes wants it checked. Some of the others watch semi-nervously. Stokes sends Mitch up there, he wants to be ready to go as soon as Reese gets there with the truck. Jack and Tony hide behind some containers not far from Stokes. Tony says that’s the package, they should get back to the car, they want to be in a position to follow the container once they move out. Jack just stares down at the mercenaries. Tony calls Jack who says to just give him a second. He is watching as they prepare to settle up with Carl, the guard. One of them leads him away saying the money is in his truck one aisle over. He leads Carl from behind. Tony wants to get going but Jack just says ‘No’ and takes off. Tony looks up and then follows Jack reluctantly between two containers. Carl is lead away from the vehicle that’s one aisle over and he asks what’s going on, he thought they were going to the truck. The thug takes Carl’s gun and he again asks what’s going on. He says to keep moving. Carl tries to bargain, he doesn’t know what Stokes told him but he didn’t tell a soul about this. Jack screws a silencer onto his huge gun and Tony tries to convince him again they need to go asking, “Dammit, Jack, what the hell are you doing?” Jack aims and Tony begs, “Don’t do it. You’re gonna turn a surveillance job into a firefight. It’ll be 2 against 10.” Jack corrects him without moving, “2 against 9.” Tony agrees but they lose their best chance at getting this weapon. “Don’t break your own rules. You may save one man but what about the thousands of people who could die in a biological attack?” Tony continues, trying hard to talk Jack out of this, “Is this about you Jack? Or about them? You wanna prevent a disaster or ensure that it’s gonna happen?” Jack lowers the gun slightly and thinks about it.

Carl is still followed as he walks by the thug with the gun. He says that’s far enough, he wants Carl to turn around. Carl is not going to, he’s going to have to look him in the eye. The thug agrees and raises the gun. Before he shoots the thug goes down, he’s been shot. Jack pulls the gun down and Tony grits his teeth and angrily says, “Ah, DAMMIT!” through them. Carl thanks Jack in the distance and runs off.

Jack unscrews the silencer and says they have about 30 seconds before they figure out what’s happened. Tony has recovered and asks what the fallback is. Jack says ‘Steal the truck.’ Tony speaks in shorthand to Jack, “Strong?” Jack answers, “I’ll make the direct assault, you cover the east flank. All we need is a big enough firefight to get one of us behind the wheel.” Jack hasn’t turned to face Tony completely still but asks if he’s ready. Tony says yeah and Jack gives the go.

The guy that was checking the container says that it’s stable. Stokes says good, they can get it on the truck. He waves the crane operator to place it. Jack comes up with his gun ready and Stokes tries to raise Cooper on the radio. He gets no response and so he sends Nolan to go and get him. Jack whispers Tony to hold and wait for his signal. Nolan has found Cooper dead and gives them all a code red. Jack gives Tony the go to engage. Shots ring out everywhere and Stokes and his cronies take cover behind a vehicle. The container is lifted into the air and the man covering the driver of the crane is shot, as well as the driver of the crane. The container swings overhead and it hits another few containers pushing them around. Amongst the gunfire, another container is knocked off onto a truck sitting nearby. The driver of the crane has somewhat recovered and he manages to get the container onto the chassis of the truck. Stokes wants it out of there now. Jack calls to Tony that the truck is moving and he’s going after it. He needs to be covered. Tony says alight and starts to fire some more. He runs out of ammo and switches to his handgun, continuing to lay down cover for Jack.

Jack sees the truck coming with the container and he climbs up a ladder onto a different pair of containers. Tony runs out of ammo in his handgun and decides to take off away from the gunfire. Stokes calls his men to fan out, there are two shooters and they need to find them. The men run off.

Jack hides behind another container and waits until the truck is right near him. He runs alongside it and jumps down from a double stacked container onto the moving one. He starts to move to the front end. Inside the truck the driver is doing his thing until suddenly his door opens and Jack punches him, grabs him and pulls him out of the truck. Jack gets behind the wheel and tries to raise Tony on the comm.

Tony jumps down from a container and lands on a thug. He knocks him out and takes his gun. Tony turns and tries to go around a corner but sees another thug walking by. He doubles back and walks into a hail of gunfire. He throws his arms up in surrender and they tell him to drop the gun. Jack is still trying to get Tony, he can hear his side of the conversation. Stokes approaches Tony and says that he knows him, he was on Emerson’s crew. ‘You’re Almeida, right?’ Jack is unhappy, he says, ‘Dammit.’ Tony is hit in the back of the neck with a gun and goes to his knees. Stokes tells him, ‘I know Bauer is with you, where is he?’ Tony just looks back at him. Jack breaks out of the gates in the truck.

Jack drives and shifts the giant truck while he dials his cell phone. He puts the ear piece in and it’s Moss that he’s calling. He identifies himself and says that he wants Moss to scramble multiple teams to a weigh station on highway 236 exit 29. He is in a big rig about 10 miles south. Moss wants to know what’s going on and Jack just requests a CDC recovery unit. He finally says that he is in possession of a bioweapon interdicted at the Port of Alexandria. Moss asks sceptically, “A biological weapon?” Jack wants Moss to listen to him, “I don’t care of you arrest me, I don’t care if you shoot me, just get the teams out here. I fully expect to be pursued by hostiles.” Moss asks, ‘Starkwood?’ and Jack wants to know how he knows about Starkwood. Moss talked to Renee and he saw what was on Meyer’s computer. Jack knows they are coming after the weapon and he advises that Tony is being held hostage. Moss agrees to secure both locations and Jack tells him to hurry. Jack sees in his mirror that the front of the container is beeping, the electric panel. He stops the truck and slips out onto the ground. He has a flashlight and checks on the beeping, there is a red light flashing. Jack hears a hissing sound and goes to check it out. The side of the container, on the front edge, has been cut open. Jack peeks in the hole in the container and using his flashlight sees a part of the unit inside has been broken open. The sound he hears is the pressure release of the gasses inside. When he realizes this, Jack’s eyes go wide and he ducks down quickly. He looks out past the truck and sees a relatively busy street corner with civilians going about their business. Jack ducks under the broken area and moves to the back of the container. Jack puts the flashlight in his mouth and unlocks the container almost completely. Before he opens the door, he puts the flashlight in his hand and takes a few deep breaths. He takes a big breath in and holds it when he opens the door for the container. He gets up inside where the weapon resides. He checks the back but doesn’t find what he’s looking for so Jack goes all the way to the front and shuts the valve off for the one part that’s leaking. Jack goes back out the end of the truck, shuts the door in a hurry and then moves to the side before he lets his air go. He gasps and heaves air and then coughs deeply. Jack heads to the front of the truck but before he gets there, a chopper is overhead and a vehicle approaches. There are people everywhere shooting at Jack and he runs full out across the road, jumps a fence and skids to a stop on some rocks. He finds somewhere that will provide cover and hides as gunfire rains around him. Stokes’ men come out of the car in gas masks and start to hook the weapon up to the chopper’s ropes. Jack gets his head up to see and has a shot at the ropes, but doesn’t take it. He is fired on again and he can’t do anything but wait for them to leave. They load back into the vehicles and take off. Jack gets up and yells, “Dammit!.’ He gets up from the rocks slowly.

 

Stokes calls Hodges and updates him that they have the weapon, it’s secure and inbound. Hodges asks about Bauer and Stokes says that he sought cover when they got there. Hodges is in a lab of some kind and says that they can assume he contacted the authorities. He wants Stokes to get over there, he says the weapon is 10 minutes out and he is right behind it. Hodges is pleased. Greg looks around unnerved.

Jack makes another call to Moss and after identifying himself tell him where he is, about 7 miles before the weigh station. Moss has 2 units on the way to the station but Jack needs them redirected. Jack tells him that Starkwood has reacquired the bioweapon, they brought in a chopper and airlifted it right out of there. They were headed west and Moss knows that Starkwood has a large military facility in that direction. Moss is concerned because they can’t mount on assault on a private company without proof. Jack asks where the CDC team is, he wants them directed to him and he’ll get them all the proof they need. Moss asks suspiciously, ‘Jack, what happened?’ Jack says that during the extradition the container was breached and some of the bioagent was released. I’ve b’,” Jack stops short, takes a breath and continues, “I was exposed.” Moss is concerned and tells Jack to sit tight, the CDC is on their way to him soon.

Jack hangs up the phone and alone on the dark street sits down on the step of the truck. He leans forward and closes his eyes and then looks down at the road beneath him.

Miscellaneous Thoughts:

-I think the previouslys are different again. Renee’s line about sending something to Jack and also Quinn sayings Jack is too late.

-Someone moved Meyers body. He was on the wall before and in the beginning of this episode he is flat on the ground. Maybe, though, they tried to revive him.

-Did anyone else feel that the beginning of this episode was like an episode of CSI? If it wasn’t for the previouslys I would have been checking my channel I think.

-Moss almost has two completely different personalities. He has the insanely rule following nightmare of a boss and then the ‘hey, I might break a few rules for ya’ guy. Someone should test this guy for some kind of psychological condition.

-Right from the beginning of the episode, the way he was taking in the crime scene at Meyers I knew he was going to be on the right side of this.

-I have to say that they are using the split screens a lot more effectively this year. I know they talked about going full circle and channelling season 1 for this episode, and at least in the way they are using the split screens they definitely appear to be doing that.

-Well, I think that this is certainly the most drinking we’ve ever seen from a 24 administration. Between Kanin and Meyer we’re going to be having a serious party by the time hour 24 rolls around. (That is, if Meyer wasn’t dead – that kinda throws a damper on the whole thing. Although, I sense that Kanin is the kind to party alone.)

-Kanin is a good man. If you need evidence of this, just look at how he reacted to Moss when he found out Jack killed Meyer. At first, he was angry and blamed Moss, but he quickly got over himself and realized that this was all his fault. He didn’t press on and try to frame Larry, he just took his figurative lumps.

-You also have to respect Larry for having enough of a spine to call Kanin out on his choice to let Jack interrogate Burnett.

-Moss’ reaction to Kanin’s silence was hilarious. The way he looked at that phone was priceless. A complete and total WTF moment.

-Tony never got around to telling Jack exactly what he wanted to tell him at the end of the last episode. I’m going to go ahead and assume that it was a connection between him and Starkwood via Emerson.

-Ah, the enjoyment of Jack and Tony working together again. Let’s just bask in the glow for a few seconds here ……………………………………………… Okay, and, show on.

-Line of the week contender: Jack to Tony, “We’re fugitives, Tony, no one will believe us.”

-Small problem with the timeline. Jack read the phone he took off Quinn and it said 22:30, not 22:15.

-Does Jack really even need to ask if Tony is with him? I mean, really, Tony got him involved in all of this anyway. If it wasn’t for him Jack would be, well, let’s be real about this, Jack would be sitting in a cell somewhere after being indicted by Meyer and his cronies. But, Jack should know Tony is going to be there for him.

-Henry seems to be doing well. I wonder if he’ll take a turn for the worse of if he’ll make it. It would be kind of ironic if he just died from complications from his surgery. After all the miraculous recoveries we’ve seen and all the killing we’ve seen, it might be nice to see someone die of (semi) natural causes.

-I don’t think that Olivia has technically come ‘home’, since actual home is probably nowhere near Washington DC.

-It sounded like Taylor was taling about a lost dog or cat when she tells Henry about Olivia. Although, I don’t think I would be opposed to replacing her with a dog or cat at this point. I think I’m Olivia’d out and the episode isn’t even a kquarter over.

-I was so reminded of Kim’s boyfriend in Season 2, Miguel, when Henry put the phone down that I was half expecting him to be missing a leg.

-Has Taylor learned nothing about the way things work? It’s like saying ‘shut out’ during a hockey game, DON’T DO IT because you are just going curse it. She said the day might end positive and then a whole new shitstorm moves in.

-I’m slightly disappointed that Taylor didn’t refuse to take Kanin on his word about Jack killing Meyer. I mean, really. He just saved her ass like an hour and a half ago. She should have at least ordered them not to shoot to kill.

-Kanin is sweet for shouldering the blame with Taylor. The one that hit me was when he apologizes for not protecting her. There’s some agent in him after all. Maybe he’ll be working with Jack next.

-So, if Kanin was going to resign in the morning, but Jack is cleared that means he should be able to come back. He hasn’t officially resigned yet. WAHO! Bring on Kanin! Get rid of Olivia!

-So are we to assume that Tony had a change of clothes for Jack in his truck? I guess so since we’re also assuming that he’s the one that brought the giant gun Jack got a hold of.

-I’ve said this before but here is another example of Tony being the yin to Jack’s yang. Tony is realistic and sceptical about finding the canister, about saving Carl, whereas Jack is gung ho, all passion and gunplay with less big picture.

-I actually rolled my eyes when Carl spoke to his wife. We could have still cared about him without seeing that 2 minute scene with his pregnant wife. I. Don’t. Care. Although, I might have rather seen that then more Olivia or Starkwood.

-I guess, though, ‘meeting’ Carl’s wife did end up with a shock for me. As soon as I saw her I knew that he would end up dead or injured. I’m shocked he survived.

-Jack is seriously badass when he takes Carl ‘hostage’.

-I have actually heard a lot about the character of Stokes, Hodges’ new guy. For someone that I’d heard about in advance and actually read interviews with, he’s a surprisingly bad actor so far. Maybe it’s just what they’ve given him but he seems a little bit over zealous about, well, everything.

-Hodges has some great lines so far. The part of him was actually written for the actor who is playing him, Jon Voight. You can kind of tell because the lines are so tailored to him. I’m going to lay bets right now that he gets off at the end of the year.

-FACT! Jonas Hodges sounded like an idiot saying ‘Fact’ that many times.

-Fact! Putting the word Fact in front of everything doesn’t make it true. FACT! The sky is green. Now, look up. See?

-Greg looks like he would like nothing less than to answer their questions. And they look mad.

-Newsflash, Hodges. Jack is no longer a Federal Agent, and hasn’t been one technically in quite some time.

-Jon Voight acting as Hodges acting like he’s sad about Meyers death is a bad actor.

-Way to twist that around on Doug there. I don’t think he wants to accuse scary Mr. Hodges of doing anything, whether it’s parking his car or killing someone. No one makes assumptions… and lives to tell about it.

-Line of the week contender: Hodges to Doug: “Starkwood is not in the business of political assassination. Maybe we should look into it. I hear it’s a growth market.”

-Fact, Hodges doesn’t really think that Meyers death was a tragedy. He’s lying.

-I just get all warm and fuzzy inside seeing Jack and Tony work together like they were in the trailer.

-So, all the signals are jammed in the cargo yard but the radios that Stokes gave Carl can get through? Ooookay. And also, Stokes can talk to Hodges.

-For a split second there I though Jack’s cell battery had died. I was like, ‘Hey, they finally let him have a dead cell phone.’ But no, everything’s dead.

-So Carl has been lying to his wife and orchestrated moving of what he thought were illegal electronics and now he says he can’t do the lying thing?

-For some reason, the line about child’s play just didn’t sit right with me. I don’t know why it just kind of raised an eyebrow.

-On the other hand, the wordless exchange between Tony and Jack about Carl’s safety when Jack promised him was spectacular. That’s one of the beautiful things about this show, they don’t always need to clog it up with chunky dialogue when a meaningful look or two will do the trick and probably give us a better idea of where the characters stand.

-Carl does some pretty good storytelling for someone that claims to be unable to do this.

-Trust Tony to bring out into the open what we were all already thinking. Carl is a dead man.

-The photo of Kanin and Taylor that he takes out of the frame and packs is just about the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on the show. He looks like a real tool standing there with his ‘yeah’ finger point at the camera and the atrocious photoshopping/green-screen behind them of some lake and mountains. I’d be burning that, not framing it. Or maybe entering it in the ‘Cheeziest photo challenge’ somewhere.

-Are there no boxes in the White House or is Kanin only allowed to leave with a briefcase and nothing else?

-This is dangerous ground having someone as inexperienced (in everything, life in general) having such a heavy opinion about the running of the country. She’s probably only seen 6 administrations, only remembers 4 of them. She just hasn’t lived enough to have the kind of sight needed. I hope that Taylor won’t just listen to her but actually use her own brain. For some reason, though, I see that being not likely.

-Wow, that was so NOT a surprise that Olivia was the leak.

-I can see how maybe, just maybe, she thinks she is helping her mother by making sure that none of this gets near her, but does she really think that Kanin’s resignation is going to help? Even if she doesn’t like him she really should respect what he does for her mother and that he has a point of view that just might be valuable. Think Karen and Tom from last year. But Olivia isn’t that much of an adult.

-Good thing Kanin didn’t die. She’s be standing over his body calling the reporter before he was even cold.

-So Moss just spent 40 minutes walking in circles and making phone calls? Good thing he’s not the lead character or this show would be called 124.

-I guess in the end after all the nothingness he ended up coming to the right conclusion so it wasn’t all for nothing.

-It’s interesting how Renee is so sure that Jack didn’t go off the deep end. She’s spent what, 6 hours with him cumulative if that? I guess that’s the Jack effect.

-I love how they wrote Moss in the scene on the phone with Renee. He’s not taking anything as a certainty, not really letting Renee know which side of this he is on, just giving facts. Well done. I think I can learn to like Moss. He’s no Buchanan but as we get to know him better, we understand his motives as well.

-As much as I’ve been kind of lukewarm to Larry and Renee, and I still am, I did enjoy the phone scene with them.

-Over the years we have seen both Jack and Tony show mercy and jeopardize things for the sake of a single life. Tony is the obvious one when Michelle was kidnapped. Jack also had his moments, one that sticks out was when he saved Chloe’s friend Andrew when he probably should have left. I always thought of Tony as the emotional one and Jack as the ruthless (but lovable) soldier. It was an interesting switch having Tony being the one convincing Jack to let someone die. This could be a reflection of Tony’s last few years working under Emerson and ultimately Hodges. He has lost that compassion and become hardened, much like Jack was before. Meanwhile, Jack has been overseas, working in Sangala and seeing other parts of the world. He is not as steely as he once was.

-Line of the week, Jack and Tony, “It’ll be 2 against 10.” “2 against 9.” Nice Jack. Nice.

-I’d like to know what Jack’s ‘rules’ are. Are they printed out anywhere?

-Tony does a good job of trying to convince Jack not to save Carl. He knows what buttons to push for Jack, we’ve already seen that this year. Tony knows Jack probably better then anyone else. Especially when Tony asks if it is about Jack or the others.

-Tony’s reaction to Jack’s freeing Carl was great. He was due for a dammit.

-Something was just very epic about Jack’s answer, ‘Steal the truck.’ Nice.

-That’s classic Tony. Roll with the punches. Yes, he doesn’t agree with what Jack did, but is ready to do what’s necessary to get it done anyway.

-More evidence about Jack and Tony being comfortable with each other, they don’t need to spell it out, they can plan a tactical assault in shorthand.

-Okay, who shot the crane driver? Really, not so smart.

-Stokes is quite the animated man about delivering instructions. I call it bad acting, but that’s just me.

-Nice move on the truck driver, Jack. First it was a tractor, now a semi. This is definitely a season of firsts.

-I cringed seeing Tony get hit. It was almost as bad as when Buchanan got hit. It’s just that I’m not used to it I guess.

-There’s the confirmation that Tony and Emerson worked for Hodges in the grand scheme. I can’t keep track of if that’s really been open knowledge before now.

-Jack better not tempt Moss too much on the shooting him thing.

-Jack knows that there’s a real chance he’s going to get shot, Moss or not, when Starkwood gets there for their weapon.

0It just makes is more real when Jack says Tony is being held hostage

-I loved Jack’s expression when he sees the canister is breached – classic ‘oh SHIT!’

-Moss does such a great job of not tipping his cards to anyone. He really does care about Jack, doesn’t want to see him dead. You can tell by how he reacts to Jack being infected.

-I thought Jack was going to go head first into those rocks and crack his head open. Terrible way for Jack to die (Well, any way is a bad way for Jack to die.)

-I totally stand by that they cannot kill Jack. No way no how, not gonna buy it if it happens. No killing Jack allowed. They must find a cure.
