Cara supervises and the canister is worked on by a man using gloves in a containment unit. She is on the phone and tells Alan Wilson that the canister has been retrofitted to maximize casualties. They will be releasing it in Washington Centre Station within the hour. Wilson wants to know if the casualty estimates are holding up and Cara tells him that they were conservative. The ventilation system will circulate the pathogen in the station. The new estimates are between 8 and 10 thousand commuters. Wilson asks if Alzarian is still on board. He is, his concern for his brother will drive him to do what they ask. Wilson asks about his level of awareness. Cara explains that he won’t know about the canister until it’s too late. Wilson wants to talk once they’re done.
The man in the Haz Mat suit is almost finished, he tests the canister by spraying some pathogen inside the sealed unit. He tells Cara that the trigger mechanism is working and she smiles. She carefully picks up the canister and prepares to move it.
Tony sits in the back of a van with Jibraan and he takes a comm. unit out and sticks it in Jibraan’s ear. He tells Jibraan that this will tell him where he is at all times and it will allow them to talk to each other. Jibraan asks what he would want to talk to Tony for. Jibraan reminds Tony that he hasn’t told him what he wants him to do yet. Tony gives the instruction for Jibraan to get on the subway and take the Red Line to Washington Centre Station. Jibraan asks what he is supposed to do when he gets there and Tony will tell him when he gets there. Jibraan says he is not stupid, he knows that Tony is going to blame him for something, he wants to know the plan. He asks if Tony is going to hurt people. Tony says that the only thing that Jibraan needs to worry about right now is his brother. If he follows Tony’s instructions Hamid lives but if he does anything stupid, he dies. Tony pauses and adds, ‘Badly.’ Jibraan understands and Tony repeats the instructions. Tony opens the door for him and Jibraan gets out. Tony follows a few steps but then lets him go. Jibraan turns and looks back at Tony and then heads down the stairs. Tony gets back in the van and another man is working on a laptop. Tony puts in a comm. unit and looks at his handheld device. It’s tracking Jibraan.
Jack and Renee are at the Alzarian residence and Jack uncuffs Hamidand apologizes that it had to happen like this. Hamid wants Jack to find his brother. Jack walks away from Hamid and goes Gohar, the Imam, and says that he should talk to Hamid. Jack tells Renee that Hamid doesn’t know anything except Jibraan was taken by Tony about a half an hour ago. Jack wants to talk to Tony’s man but he has been badly injured and is in pain. The EMT on scene prepares to give him some morphine but Jack stops him. The medic explains to Jack that the wound is in a nerve cluster and he will go into shock from the pain. Jack knows about this but he wants them to back off. The medics grudgingly do and Jack leans over the man looking at the wound. He turns to Renee and warns her that she should step outside. Renee tells Jack to do what he has to do. Jack leans in and asks where Almeida is. Jack will give him morphine as soon as he talks, where is Almeida, what’s the target. The man says he doesn’t know and Jack presses his fingers into his wound. The man yells and Jack asks again. He says that Tony didn’t tell him where he was going or what the target was. Jack asks how he can contact him but he says he can’t. Jack presses again and the man admits he has a number but he wasn’t supposed to use it unless there was a problem. Jack warns that he better start thinking of a problem. Jack asks for the phone and tells the medics to give him enough morphine to take the pain out of his voice, nothing more. Jack gives the phone to Renee and wants Chloe to track it. He turns back to the thug and tells him to think about what he’s going to say. If he screws with him it will be the last thing he ever does. The man understands.
Renee calls Janice at the FBI and says that she needs Chloe to run a trace. Janice can do it but Jack wants Chloe. Chloe looks smug and Renee gives the number to her. She will run it back and will run a locate. She wants Janice to set up a secure connection and she starts to do it. Chloe asks why she is doing it that way and points out snidely that a different way is faster. Janice didn’t know that or she would have done it that way. Chloe snaps that it’s been up and running for about 2 years. Janice snaps that she will never be able to do things as well as they did at CTU but she asks Chloe not to make her feel like an idiot while she points that out. Chloe says alright, but sounds like she doesn’t mean it. She has the trace running and Renee calls Jack over.
Jack takes the phone and the number from Tony’s man. Jack dials and says it’s ringing. He hands the phone over and listens. Tony picks up and says, ‘What are you calling me for’ by way of hello. The man says he was checking Alzarian’s computer and the Swiss bank emailed him rejecting the transfer. Tony asks if he knows how to re send it and the thug says he’s not sure. Chloe tells them that the call is encrypted. Tony says to call their man in Zurich and he will walk him through the transfer. He will, he just wanted to get Tony’s authorization before he did that. Tony asks if there are any other problems and the thug says no. Tony says good and they hang up.
Chloe got no location data, just the district that Tony is in. Jack is frustrated, they are running out of time. Chloe might be able to decrypt the data but she doesn’t know how long that’s going to take. Jack snaps that she needs to do better than that. Chloe needs to get off the phone and so Jack gives the tac team information to Janice.
Jibraan walks nervously through the subway station. He sees the security station and slowly removes his comm and puts it in his hand. He approaches a woman and whispers that she needs to call the police. She asks him to speak up but he can’t do that, people are listening, they have his brother. They’re terrorists. She looks at the other security guard and Jibraan is starting to panic. He says they will kill his brother unless he does what they say. They want him to get on the train, he needs them to call the police. She knocks on the glass at a roaming security guard and calls him over. He moves Jibraan away from the others and says to calm down. He repeats that his brother has been taken hostage but the guard tells him calmly to put the ear piece back in. Jibraan is shocked and the man repeats the order. His hands shake as he puts the comm. unit back in. Tony speaks to him telling him to listen, he understands he had to try but he warns him not to do it again. His brother’s life depends on it. Jibraan asks Tony not to hurt his brother but Tony says it’s up to him. Jibraan will do whatever he says, he won’t cause any more problems, he promises. Tony asks if Jibraan remembers the instructions and he repeats them back to Tony. Tony warns they’re watching, they’re always watching. The security guard is waiting and hands Jibraan a pass to get on the subway. Jibraan walks through the gates and puts his hands on his head.

Olivia’s phone rings and its Pierce calling. Tim Woods is asking for her. She told Pierce that she was in the residence but he found her not there. Olivia wants to know why Tim is looking for her and Pierce explains that the Justice Department is looking into the car bomb that killed Hodges. Only 11 knew he was alive so it stands to reason that it was leaked. Olivia will get there as soon as she can, it’s personal. Pierce clarifies that she left the White House without Secret Service protection. She says she’ll be 10 minutes but Pierce doesn’t like this. He says this is a serious breach of protocol and her safety is his responsibility. Olivia says it won’t happen again, she asks him to cover for her until she gets back. Pierce reluctantly agrees and they hang up.
Olivia is actually in a park and hears something in the bushes. It’s Martin and Olivia starts to panic that they made a mistake. He tells her to calm down but she tells him about the justice department but Martin isn’t surprised, a government witness was murdered. Olivia changed her mind, she didn’t make the transfer but Martin admits that he told him to go ahead. He called and said the money hadn’t come through but Martin said that she was good for it and to proceed. Olivia asks why and Martin says that the window was finite and this is what Olivia wanted, she looked him straight in the eye and said she wanted to make it happen. He madeit happen. Martin is going to send her a program to erase her tracks. He tells her the time to worry about this was before she did it and he warns that if she looks suspicious people will catch on and bring them both down. It will destroy her mother and her administration. It will all pass if she does what she is told. Martin warns her that she needs to transfer the funds, ‘you do not want this man unhappy with you.’ Martin leaves.

The phone rings in Stephen and Kim’s place, Kim is calling her husband. She is walking through the airport and Stephen says he has been up with Teri a couple of times, she is having a rough night and missing her mother. Kim is touched, her flight has been delayed an hour, which probably means too. He says okay and asks if maybe she should see that as a sign that she should stay there and try and convince her father to spend whatever time he has left with his only daughter. Kim says that as much as she wants to, he made it very clear that he does not want her around to watch him die. Stephen apologizes for bringing it up. They will be at the airport to pick her up when she gets in. Kim
Jibraan is sitting on the train and he looks around. Cara in her wig walks around. She subtly unzips the bag and arms the canister for 15 minutes. She puts the bag down against the wall and slides it under the nearest seat and then she gets off the train. The next stop, according to the voice overhead, is Washington Centre Station. Jibraan sees Cara and maybe recognizes her.
Cara calls Tony and says that it is set. He says he will pick her up and starts the van.
Chloe has cracked Tony’s location data, he is three blocks south of Jack on the west side of the block.
Jack starts toward Tony’s location and calls the teams in. With Chloe directing Jack sees Tony and ID’s the black van. He tells Renee that they can’t let this turn into a pursuit. He tells her to hold on and slams into the back of the van. Both vehicles spin out and Jack tells Renee again to hold on. He throws their vehicle in reverse and hits Tony’s vehicle again. Inside we can see Tony is thrown from his seat and he drops his handheld computer.
Jack gets out of his vehicle, the FBI is there with guns drawn. He gives a silent go and one of the agents opens the side door to the van. Jack grabs Tony from the van as he is trying to smash his handheld computer on the ground. He muscles Tony away in a choke hold. Tony struggles and Jack yells that he was trying to smash some kind of device when he grabbed him. Renee gets a hold of the device. Tony has lost consciousness now and Jack roughly drops him on the hood of a car telling the agents, “Lock down this piece of crap.” Renee has Tony’s mobile computer and it’s been damaged pretty badly but there must be information to do with the attack. She will contact Chloe and Jack volunteers to sweep the van for the canister. He goes to the side of the vehicle and pauses. He winces in pain and then pulls himself into the van.

Jack and Renee work on the hood of the car uploading information to Chloe and Janice. Chloe says she will try and reconstruct what she can but she doesn’t know about the chances of recovering anything. Janice has an idea, she wants Chloe to send her screen to her. Chloe asks why and Janice asks why not. Chloe does it and Janice gives a
Jack and Renee still stand at the car and an agent comes over saying that Almeida just regained consciousness. Jack tells Renee to stay with this and he walks over to where Tony is sitting. He is cuffed with his hands behind his back sitting on a set of cement stairs. Jack looks at him and Tony moves his head seeing Jack coming. There is an agent on either side of the stairs and Jack goes to the nearest one getting close to him. He says quietly, “I need you to walk away.” The agent quickly looks away but Jack is persistent, “Please, you and your men just walk away.” Jack stands and waits until finally the agent steps away, taking the other agent with him.
Jack silently looks down for a second and takes a few steps away from Tony while Tony waits, watching but saying nothing. Abruptly, Jack steps forward and punches Tony in the face. He grabs the front of Tony’s jacket and yells, “Where is it? Where is the canister?” Jack hits Tony again and pulls him back up, almost off the stairs. He warns, “I am not gonna stop until you tell me where it is.” Jack punches Tony again in the face repeatedly, still holding the front of his jacket. After a few punches blood spurts from Tony’s mouth and face onto the pavement. Finally, after numerous punches, Jack stops and Tony grunts a couple of times sounding almost panicked. Jack leans over Tony with a hand still on him. Tony is leaning back onto the stairs but his head bobs grotesquely. “Why did you betray me?” Tony watches Jack who waits and gets no answer, “Why?” he asks again, voice breaking. Jack steps away pulling Tony up a little again and Tony waits seeing what’s going on, looking almost sad. Jack has drawn his gun and cocks it as he charges back to Tony, levelling it at his head. Jack tells him somewhat frantically, “I have nothing left to lose. You either tell me where that canister is or so help me God I will lay you down right here, right now.” Jack’s hand shakes with his finger on the trigger and Tony is still trying to find balance, he bobs up and down. Finally, he answers, with a defeated tone, “You think I’ve got anything left to lose, Jack?” His speech is broken but he half smiles before he locks eyes with Jack and says evenly, “Do it.” He looks away and waits. Jack stares at Tony, who is still reeling from being hit. Tony watches Jack, waiting, almost nodding with the gun to his head. Jack’s eyes give him away and he can’t do it, dropping the gun to his side.
Janice is running the files now. With Chloe and Renee they work out the location and deduce that Jibraan is on the metro. Chloe pulls up the grid and says that the train he is on is headed to Washington Centre Station. Renee has the target, she tells the agent standing there to put the laptop and items in the car. She takes off.
Renee comes up next to Jack who is standing looking heartbroken at Tony, gun dangling at this side. Tony is leaning back on the stairs watching him. Renee approaches and says that they have Jibraan. Tony’s expression is indiscernible and Jack keeps his eyes on Tony. He sighs and then winces before turning and walking silently away. Renee looks at Tony, his face covered in blood.
We see Jibraan on the train.
Jack goes to Jibraan who is with agents still and asks if he’s alright. Jibraan asks, “Mr. Bauer?” Jack says yes and reassures him, “You did great. Thank you.” Jibraan wants to see his brother. Jack nods, he knows. They are going to bring him there. Jack tells him for now to go with Agent Morin so he can take his statement. Jibraan nods and walks away. Jack sees Renee standing by the car waiting for him. She smiles faintly at him and Jack smiles back a little bit. He walks over slowly, hands in his pockets. He gets close to the car but then loses his footing and turns so he’s leaning on the car facing Renee. He doubles over and Renee tries to help him. He says that it’s alright. She says that he needs to give himself a shot. Jack takes quick breaths and grunts that he did, 20 minutes ago, “It’s not working.” Renee tries to comfort him saying that it’s okay, they stopped it. He nods with a slight smile but he’s trying to control the pain and she says, “You can finally rest.” He is wincing in obvious pain and grunts slightly, leaning forward. She reaches around Jack and pulls him into a hug. She has one hand on the back of his neck and the other on his arm and after a second, he leans into her closing his eyes.

Kim waits for her flight at the airport and a voice comes over the intercom apologizing for the delay. Kim sees the same man again watching her. She spies a couple nearby
Jack speaks on the phone, he is talking to the man at the airport who was watching Kim. He says that they are boarding within the hour and she’s at the gate. Jack knows that the threat is over but he asks the man to watch over her until she gets on the plane. The agent agrees and they hang up.
Jack orders a full interrogation package for when they return to the FBI from another agent. He looks into the car and sees Tony sitting in the back seat, face still bloodied. Their eyes meet. Renee comes to Jack and updates him that Hodges has been killed. They have no leads but someone working for them found out he was alive. Jack looks back to Tony again and says that they are going to be coming after Tony. He wants a full convoy and weapons detail, ‘we’re not losing him again.’
Outside the perimeter, Cara is on the phone. She is talking to Wilson and lets him know the FBI has Alzerian and the canister is gone. Alan is angry; he pulls the phone down and says, “Dammit.” He is upset that everything they have worked for is gone. Cara continues with the bad news, the FBI has Tony. Wilson wants him eliminated, he knows too much and they can’t take the risk of the FBI breaking him. She needs to take him out. Cara says that it’s not necessary. Tony won’t be in custody for long. Wilson asks what she is talking about and Cara says they have another play. Wilson says that she better have.
Kim is still waiting but they are starting to give info over the intercom about boarding the plane. Bob, the man she is with, says he’ll believe it when he sees it. He asks if his wife would like coffee and she says decaf. He offers Kim but she says no, thanks. After he’s gone Kim tells the wife that her husband is really nice. She muses that he has his moments. Kim asks her to watch her bag, she is going to the washroom. The agent watching her sees where she’s going and he decides to do the same thing, he ducks into the men’s room. Bob is in there washing his hands and the agent relieves himself. Immediately, Bob is behind the agent with a rope pulling it over his neck. They struggle until Bob manages to snap the agent’s neck. He takes the gun and leaves him in the bathroom closing the door and locking it and then exiting from another stall.

Olivia walks and sees Pierce who calls her. She says she knows that he is upset that she went off protocol and she promises it won’t happen again. He says no, it won’t, or she will have to find someone else to do his job. She says that won’t be necessary. She explains that she left the grounds to go on a personal errand. Pierce asks what it was but she says that she just needed to get out of there and be alone. She needed to clear her head, if only for a short time. With everything that happened today, being held hostage and then Jonas Hodges’ murder and seeing her father so weak and vulnerable, she was feeling overwhelmed. She has created a believable story and Pierce listens as she says she is trying to live up to her mother’s expectations. Pierce understands and asks if she is feeling alright now. She says she is, she guesses she just needed to tell someone what was going on. She is glad she had someone she could trust. He thanks her. She will have the records ready for the justice department shortly. He opens the door and she thanks him. He turns and looks unhappy as he dials his phone.

The phone at Ethan Kanin’s place rings and he is reading the paper. He answers the phone and Pierce identifies himself asking if he woke him. Kanin sounds mildly irritated as he says no. Pierce asks if he is aware of some modifications that were made to the Chief of Staff’s office when Mike Novick was there. Kanin is aware of the voice activated recording system which allowed statements to be logged and recorded. Pierce asks if he disconnected it and Kanin would prefer not to answer that. Pierce needs to access the logs but Kanin says he can’t, they’re secured with a biometric lock. Kanin says that if Pierce wants Kanin to help him then he’s going to have to tell him what this is about. He assumes that Olivia Taylor is still using his office, he asks if this has to do with her. Pierce can’t talk about it over the phone. Kanin will be at the White House in half an hour. Pierce thanks him and they hang up.
Olivia works on her computer and brings up the funds transfer for the man that took out Hodges. She pauses but eventually presses the ‘execute’ button to complete the wire transfer. She sniffles.
Janice and Chloe work on their respective computers and Janice sighs. She asks if Chloe has something to say to her. Chloe asks, ‘Like what?’ Janice is looking for praise for reconstructing the computer of Tony’s. Chloe scoffs and tells her, ‘You don’t know me, but if you did you’d know this is the last place to look for any type of validation.’ Janice asks for just admitting that Chloe was wrong. Chloe snarks at her system, instead she sends the photo Jack and Renee are waiting for.
Jack is almost ready to move and tells the agent and Jibraan that. Jibraan has ID’s Cara but she had a wig on. Jack looks over his shoulder and sees an SUV drive up. He tells Jibraan that his brother is there. Jibraan turns and runs to his brother. He gets to him and they hug, Jibraan lifting Hamid off his feet. Gohar, the Imam is there and he smiles and nods at Jack. Jack smiles back and Jibraan gets Gohar in the hug as well. Jack smiles and walks away.
Bob comes back with Seattle’s Best Coffee cups for him and his wife. He hands the coffee over and says that the coffee place there didn’t have decaf so he had to go to the other end of the terminal, ‘But I want you to know, I got it.’ He hangs on the words and she thanks him. Bob sits and opens his laptop, turning it so the camera is facing Kim and she is on the screen.
Jack’s phone rings, it’s Cara calling him. She says she is sending a link to his phone, it’s something he should see. He asks who it is and she tells him to open the link. Jack does and he sees a cropped live feed of Kim. He asks again who this is and Cara just says that Kim is in the company of her operatives and Agent Franks has been neutralized. She tells him that he will help Tony escape or her people will kill Jack’s daughter. Any effort to warn anyone about this will have the same result. Jack tries to protest, Tony is under heavy guard, but Cara says that’s his problem. She wants the call put on his ear piece and for him to keep the line open. She will be listening to everything he says. Jack does what she tells him to do.
In the split screen we see Jack setting up his phone, Tony being led to the transport vehicle with Renee nearby, Kim, Kanin driving.
Tony gets in and an agent secures him. Renee follows and sits across from him. She warns him, “You’re gonna pay for what you did to Larry.” Tony, blood still on his nose and face, almost rolls his eyes at her and looks away. Jack steps into the vehicle and moves to the front by the driver. Renee thought that he was going with Moran but Jack changed his mind, he wants to see this through. Renee looks sad and Tony watches coyly. Cara tells Jack in his ear piece that he will make his move to break Almeida out soon and she will tell him what to do and when to do it. She tells him also that if any of the agents in that van get in the way he will have to take them out, or his daughter will die.

Miscellaneous Thoughts:
-And Jack is back where he should be at the beginning, the last previously.
-So, I’m guessing that the plan was that Jibraan would get off the train with everyone else but the fact that he was acting suspicious coupled with all the stuff on his computer and his brother would be enough to go after him for the attack.
-Jibraan indeed is not stupid. He’s scared, but not stupid. He maybe was planning on telling the authorities about the plan which is why he was asking Tony. Or, maybe he just wanted to know what he was in for.
-Although, I think the question if Tony is going to hurt people has a fairly obvious answer.
-Worst line of the week, “... Hamid dies...” First part, fine, “...Badly.” What? Is there a ‘goodly’ way to die? Hi my name is Tony Almeida, I’m the head of the Department of Redundancy Department, nice to meet you, pleasure.
-Jack’s ‘I know’ about the never cluster and the guy going into shock was a little too knowing. I’m betting he’s had that used against him at some point. Maybe in China?
-Well, at least Jack didn’t have to draw his gun on the medic to get him to lay off the morphine.
-That was a little bit of an ugly interrogation for Tony’s thug, I wonder how Taylor would have reacted to that?
-I was also surprised that there was no lecture from Renee about the right thing to do. It’s like when Jack gives her the chance to get away from it, she allows it. But when he doesn’t and she’s forced into it, she gets mad.
-It’s a tough choice as to who I’d like to tick off less, Jack or Tony. Especially Tony the Terrorist. He’s not so nice. But I guess for the thug, Jack was the most immediate danger.
-The little tech war at FBI is cute once or twice but it’s starting to grate on my nerves a bit.
-It was funny when Janice asked Chloe not to make her feel like an idiot. Obviously, she’s new at this whole Chloe thing.
-That was a pretty good idea that the thug came up with.
-Actually, I found the thug there another fine example of good casting for this show. He just did his thing and got out of the way. They’ve always done well with that... well, almost always.
-I would think, though, that Tony would be able to pick up on something with that guys responses. Particularly the delayed ‘no’ when he asked about any other problems.
-Testy, testy, Jack. Just because you only have a few hours left to live doesn’t mean you should take it out on Chloe.
-So, let me get this straight, Jibraan takes the comm. unit out, puts it in his hand and then puts that hand ON the desk when he talks to the security people. I’m thinkin’ no. You’d be putting that thing as far away from your face as possible. You know, like behind your back or something.
-How often do they get people coming up to them like Jibraan on the subway there? Both guards seem pretty darn unconcerned. Remind me to never, ever ride the DC subway.
-That was a conveniently placed henchmen, a security guard.
-Tony could have killed the brother right then and there, but I guess he still needed Jibraan to finish the task at hand. Jibraan defied him and Tony was understanding. That’s the Tony we know.
-You know, I quite like Jibraan. Nice guy in the wrong place.
-That’s twice now that Olivia has put Aaron’s job on the line. When she went to meet that sleazy reporter at the hotel she wouldn’t let him check the room and now she’s taken off. If something happens to her it’s on Pierce. I’m glad that he’s on to her.
-So, there’s no beating around the bush with Martin. Sorry, bad pun.
-Other than the problems it would cause for Pierce, I was seriously hoping that Martin would just take out Olivia and get it over with.
-By the way, the actor that plays Martin is named Leland Orser, he’s awesome. He’s also in ‘Taken’ with Liam Neeson which is very 24-esque. It’s about a US operative trying to rescue his daughter. Sound familiar? The daughter’s name is even Kim, and Xander Berkeley (George Mason) is also in it.
-Olivia is not doing a very good job of keeping her cool. She’s SO getting busted.
-I think that we want the assassin mad at Olivia, then maybe she’ll be taken out too.
-I love Martin’s tone when she warns about the assassin being mad at her. It just made me laugh.
-Kim has the fastest change ever from ‘heartwarmed mother’ to ‘angry airport commuter’. She hardly spares an ‘aw’ for her daughter before changing the subject.
-Wow, Kim snagged a doctor, a real one this time (sorry to any psychiatrists out there, but Barry was hardly useful.) I wonder how she met this one.
-Steven seems nice, well balanced, caring and, well, just like an all around good guy. I wonder when Kim came back around to normal again?
-That FBI agent is the worst tail I’ve ever seen. He might as well be wearing a sombrero and a bright pink shirt sitting in a gate going to Alaska.
-Cara is also not exactly a champion of subtle, but she’s no agent Franks, the champion of un-subtle.
-Speaking of subtle - Tony is driving the only black vehicle on a block of white cars.
-What a convenient place for Tony to be, only 3 blocks south of Jack.
-So, who lets the near death out for vengeance ex federal agent drive? He could go into a seizure at any second and Jack does all the driving in this episode.
-Speaking of driving, what happened to the guy that was with Tony in the van? He was there when they set Jibraan on his task but then he disappeared.
-I’m thinking that the sentence that Jack said about Tony trying to smash the computer when he grabbed him was edited in after. If you look closely, we never actually see Jack’s face and he just doesn’t seem to be talking.
-Tony’s little grunt on the other hand made me feel really bad for him. I just can’t get to hating him, I loved him for so long.
-I was surprised to hear Jack call Tony a “piece of crap”, and a little offended, to be honest.
-Nice of Jack to volunteer to sweep the van, I guess it doesn’t matter if he gets infected again.
-Hit the plateau of how much tech I can take with Janice and Chloe long before Janice’s sly ‘really’? I’m just not there with her.
-I was shocked that Jack got the two agents watching Tony to just walk away like that. After all the stuff about prisoner rights and the crap Jack has taken all day it was pretty easy to get them to go.
-I have to say that Carlos Bernard’s performance in the scene where Jack beats the heck out of him is infuriatingly neutral. He is not giving anything away for what may or may not actually be going on. Knowing what happens in the end gives me some more ways to look at it. It’s like looking at the question again after knowing the answer, but at the time I could discern nothing from him.
-You know, I knew Jack was going to hit Tony, I knew it was coming but I still did not expect it to happen so fast. He didn’t even say anything.
-That first punch was a serious doozy. It makes it worse that Jack grabs Tony’s jacket and holds him there so he can punch him better.
-Tony almost looks like he was expecting this reaction from Jack. He has known him a long time, though, so maybe he was.
-There was this big deal about Jack going postal on Tony. It was well publicised in the spoiler world. This, though, again, I did not expect. I expected a fight, not Jack beating on a helpless Tony. A fight would have been good, but this was very brutal, almost sick.
-Speaking of sick, the sound of blood and probably teeth hitting the pavement next to Tony after the 3rd or 4th punch was so, so grotesque.
-8 punches. Jack lands 8 consecutive punches on Tony’s face before he stops and pulls back. And they were hard punches, too.
-Jack has to know that Tony is not going to tell him where the canister is. He knows him well enough. I’m venturing a guess that he’s trying to inflict physical pain on Tony because of the emotional pain Tony has inflicted on him. Unfortunately for Jack, it looks like Tony’s in quite a bit of emotional pain anyway.
-Man, these two guys are great actors. I know, I’ve said it before, but this little confrontation is so emotionally charged that I can’t get around it. It’s like a magnet in the episode and everything else is revolving in the periphery.
-I think this is the first time i actually cursed the ‘real time’. I would have liked to have seen both Jack and Tony’s reactions during the ‘interrogation’. Maybe a split screen? But then that takes away from the overall effect. I just really wanted to see both of them for the whole thing, but still see what we saw because it was so good.
-I am shocked that Jack hasn’t had a total emotional meltdown today. Really, physically he’s doing alright comparatively, but emotionally-not so good. He was grilled by the senate, told one of his oldest friends was bad, then found out he was good, the whole President/First husband thing, President held hostage, Bill’s death, Larry’s death, Marika’s death, Kim’s return and departure, exposure to the weapon and now Tony is bad again. No wonder he’s near tears.
-I firmly believe that Jack cannot kill Tony. He can’t do it. They have too much history. Maybe if he had a gun out on Kim like Nina did, probably then. But I just don’t see another way for him to be able to pull that trigger. You can see his hand shaking while he holds Tony there. His fingers on the trigger but he won’t do it.
-Saddest line ever? “You think I’ve got anything left to lose, Jack? Do it.” I want to know WHY! What the heck is going on in Tony’s mind? Spill it dammit!
-Close second? “Why did you betray me?”
-Is it that hard to find a friend for Jack that doesn’t either die, is totally socially awkward, leaves him or turns bad? How hard can it be? Jack needs to pick better friends.
-I love Renee just telling that agent to put the laptop and other gear in the car. Anywhere in particular or just toss it in the trunk?
-Again, all I want is Jack and Tony to try and talk this out – throw us a fricken bone here. Give us something to go on. Closure is good.
-Tony looks so rough and Renee can still look angry at him. Where’s her ‘no prisoner abuse’ stance now? I guess it died with Larry.
-And again, who lets Jack drive? He’s emotionally and physically unstable. Not a good choice.
-there are a lot of people on that train for essentially the middle of the night. I guess they start early in DC.
-interesting but unfortunate that the guy with the briefcase is profiling Jibraan – although, he’d probably be all over him no matter what since he’s acting like he’s about to blow up half that train
-although I can understand Jibraan wanting to speak to his brother, he has a really bad sense of timing for it.
-Cara’s wig wasn’t that convincing, I’m pretty sure Jibraan should have been able to make an ID.
-Yeah, I like Jibraan. He wins the hero cookie for doing a good job with a role that could have easily been poorly done.
-Jibraan moves pretty quickly from treating that canister like it’s going to explode at the slightest movement to waving it around and threatening that it’s a bomb.
-what do you do when the person you are trying to run away from is running away in the same direction you are? Jibraan was running with the canister after saying it was a bomb, but he was moving with the crowd.
-That was really smart and fast thinking by Jack all around. Everything just worked out perfectly to dispose of the canister. Might have been a little too easy, but it worked dramatically so I’m not complaining.
-Did anyone else laugh out loud at that agent that opened the door for Jack out of the Haz-Mat truck? “We’ve got it from here.” Ah, what exactly is left? Jack already did all the work.
-Jibraan sounds grateful to Jack – what a nice change.
-Speaking of change, I really liked what happened with Jack and Renee at the car. Not too much, just the right amount. Jack needs someone that will help him and comfort him and Renee might as well be it. He doesn’t want it to be Kim and that’s understandable. It could be Chloe but that would be just , well, awkward as Chloe is.
-Jack is getting worse, a lot worse. If the meds aren’t working then these last couple hours are going to be tough on us, and Jack.
-20 minutes ago Jack took the shot? Well, he’s been taking them at intervals around 20 minutes anyway up until now.
-They are becoming masters of leaving me wanting more in this show. Just a few more seconds of Jack and Renee hugging would have been great. Jack allows her to hug him first, but then accepts it and actually enjoys it – he closes his eyes and leans in. Beautifully done – just another couple of seconds would have been awesome instead of the abrupt clock.
-Kim wins even less subtlety points than the agent by moving over and having the woman sitting next to her turn around and scope out the agent. She could have asked the man, who was sitting across from her and FACING him to check it out. Fail, Kim, fail. Or even better, Kim could have sat facing him.
-That was a nice little set up with Jack having Kim tailed until she gets out of town. Sweet in Jack’s way. I was relieved to find it was a fake out, until I found out she really was being followed.
-So, Jack can just deploy FBI personnel now?
-There’s something significant to Jack’s statement that ‘we can’t lose him again.’ I found myself asking why, because Jack wants answers or because they need him for the investigation.
-They should just rename this show ‘Dammit’ – ‘cause everybody gets to say it now, it’s almost too cliché for its own good.
-Although, Alan does have a pretty good dammit.
-The way I see it, Tony doesn’t know anything about the group that Wilson works with. He didn’t even know what to call them a few episodes ago.
-As soon as Cara told Wilson that they had ‘another play’ to get Tony out, I knew that somehow, Kim was going to be in trouble. What possible reason could they have of keeping us updated on Kim unless something was going to happen?
-That’s a great idea Kim, ask a woman you just met to watch your bag at the airport. Nice work. Especially since she happens to be working for the bad guys.
-Totally saw that coming from Bob.
-Did that agent even go? I mean, that was the fastest urinal stop I’ve ever seen.
-Bob’s pretty agile. I guess it helps that he’s about half the size of the agent that he just killed.
-Olivia’s story about needing time alone was well concocted and delivered. I actually thought for a few minutes that Pierce would buy it. It made me happy that she couldn’t pull the wool over his eyes like that. He’s probably aware of her history, though, and things she did in the past.
-Olivia is merciless. She invoked the injury of her father to try and get Pierce to believe her lie. That’s brutal.
-SO glad that Pierce called Kanin for help. He’s been due to come back since Jack was cleared for Meyer and Burnett’s deaths.
-Kanin has just been the Jack Bauer of the White House storyline. He is doing all the right stuff and pressing for the stuff that will help solve the problems. He’s just a little more diplomatic at it than Jack is.
-Originally, though, I was a little upset that Kanin sounded mildly irritated at Pierce. This is Aaron freaking Pierce – the guy knows what he’s talking about.
-Not really too surprised that it was Mike Novick that installed the recording system. If you’ve got Sherry Palmer running around you need to have yourself covered, same as with Olivia.
-I just can’t get over that the transfer button that Olivia has to push in order to have Hodges taken out is titled ‘Execute’. That’s a little telling, isn’t it?
-Chloe is still Chloe after all this time. We not only learn about Jack’s inner motives during this season, but a little more about Chloe as well. She’s not exactly hiding anything.
-Bob’s coffee cups are so obviously empty. If they couldn’t at least fill them with water to make it look more real, they could have at least told him not to wave them around like that. Trust me, I’m an experienced coffee spiller. I know what it takes to spill a cup of coffee.
-Hey, Seattle’s Best. Cool.
-Bob is not discreet at all about the laptop. Kim should have noticed that the web cam is pointing directly at her.
-Also, I’ve never seen a laptop that has a built in web cam that can be turned around like that.
-Think that there’s a possibility that someone nearby might have noticed that Bob’s entire screen was filled with Kim? It just looks sleazy.
-Jack is going to be a pro at the whole ‘family/loved ones kidnapped’ thing pretty soon.
-Cara does a great job of sounding sinister.
-Renee is feeling anger at Tony for Larry, no question. She’s not letting him out of her sight. She couldn’t even wipe his bloody nose for him.
-Tony wins reaction of the week for his eye-roll, smug jaw movement when Renee says to him ‘You’re gonna pay for what you did to Larry.’ It was classic and I just couldn’t help but laugh. If you watch this episode with the commentary, they think it’s hilarious too.
-Cara is all business when she’s talking about freeing Tony. She’s not giving anything about their relationship away to Jack. She calls him ‘Almeida’.
-Speaking of calling him ‘Almeida’, what is Tony doing using is real name anyway? If he’s supposed to be dead there’s no way that they could keep him underground by using his real name. Assuming he’s been doing that from the time he was revived, the government would have known he was alive way before now. Even Wilson knows him as Almeida.
-I have a problem with the line about Jack having to take out any agents that get in the way. Jack knows the stakes, he’s been on both sides of this before. He doesn’t need a reminder from Cara and I think that that was a shameless effort to generate tension about the possibility of Jack having to kill Renee.

But then that takes away from the overall effect. I just really wanted to see both of them for the whole thing, but still see what we saw because it was so good.
